Malcolm,

Been reading thru the assembly manual and I am confused on a few things. Maybe you can clear them up?

1. Description says all plywood bulkheads are premounted. Page 8 says to glue them in?
2. Stab servo requirement says 5KG on page 3 yet on page 8 it says 8KG?
3. Page 8 shows the elevator servos mounted into the ply mounts. Looks like the port servo mount has been altered to raise the servo up? Will a reverse servo be required? Page 9 shows this also.
4. Are the fin/rudder assemblies located any other place other than the single M3 screw to prevent rotation?
5. Do I understand that mini servos are used throughout?
6. Is the tailpipe included?

Lastly can you tell us the wing area and what size wheels are used?

Dave, from the site it appears that the pipe is extra. I didn't see a price though for the model.

Guys.....the short pipe is included in the kit price as sold here in the states....the servos required for the wings on ailerons and flaps are the hitech 85 mG's (metal gears ), that is because the mountings covers supplied are the same as the Phoenix because the Scorpion uses the Phoenix wings, but you can modify the openings to accept the larger servo mounts as used on the Phoenix elevator...which takes a powerful standard size servo, if you are intending to fit a 120 size turbine then I recommend larger servos.. .. for a P80 or smaller turbine the small servos are adequate......... the tailplanes are all flying A la AD F16, I would fit powerful servos here if I were you..
the formers are all fitted and glued in at the factory, we suggest that you go around the glue joints and check thoroughly and reglue where necessary for safety sake.... the finished article with a p80 weighed 17.5 lbs.....the twin fins are mounted on an alloy tube with anti rotation pins as well and secured by bolting through the tube...... the tailplanes are operated by a cast alluminium fitting that connects to the servo arm no reversed servo is necessary............

I have just been advised by my UK dealer that my Scorpion will be shipped tomorrow, should have it in a few days (Ihope!)

The model looks good in the photographs. While the AD website description says "No glueing" the first thing you have to do is glue reinforcing plywood into the fuselage at the joint so I think we should take the "No glueing" with a pinch of salt or maybe a pinch of glue!

You may have to mount one of your elevator servos as per the shot in the manual depending on your radio and channel availability remember you have two ailerons, two flaps, two rudders and two elevators for a start, that means "Y" leading and/or servo reversing unless you are lucky enough to have a brand spanking new 14MZ like me, in which case you will have channels to spare.:)

I will be using Hitec 5225 digitals on the ailerons and 645 MG on the flaps with 5625 Digis on elevator duty, 5125 on rudder.

I will have to wait until I open the box to see if a pipe is included in the European kit, I don't think so, a bit dissappointing as the kit is the equivalent of $1,600 over here and you guys get it for around $1,350. I will use my spare Eurosport pipe cut down to size and a plastic bottle 2 litre tank.

You will get the unvarnished truth on the model when it arrives!

Thanks for the feedback. Keep us posted on the "build". Malcolm says the bulkheads are in fact glued in, but should be inspected. Probably good advice on all jets. The looks do grow on you!
I wonder if a Comp-arf Rookie tank will fit? Could save a hundred US bucks?

Couldn't find that tank on the Comp.ARF spares list. Do you know what page it is on? I was planning on a 2 litre plastic bottle but I would certainly prefer a composite tank if it is reasonable.

Thanks, got it now, 69 Euros in the UK. I will wait until I get the model to see if the 120mm diameter will fit on the tank bearers, if not it's the cheap & cheerful plastic bottle!

Hi rob,no not yet mate,john agnew will have his this week somtime as it left the factory today,mine is on the way also this week.im told there fantastic!!i have been designing my own sport jet for 6 months now,it was going to be a quick balsa easy to build cheap model for everyone "BUT" im going with the dream idea of a mega custom jet built and rigged and painted and test flown by myself then sold on to what ever customer wants one.its going to be like orange county choppers they build for special customers that want a custom bike that only they have.if anyone is interested in this idea please let me know.

Sounds great John, Falcon should go great in one, I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions of the kit, looks a pretty neat model to me, which colour did you opt for ?
