Any advice on setting up the BobCat in Aerofly Pro Deluxe? It is realistic at speed, but unlike the real thing, the simulator version seems to lose elevator authority at low speed. |

Thanks Koeniboy, but I already did both without much effect. Guess I'll play with some of the other parameters, or I'll just practice landings with the real thing.

Thanks again Koenieboy. For those interested, I have made the following parameter changes to the simulated BobCat and it seems pretty similar to the real thing. Root foil naca 012. Tip foil naca 2213. Fuselage - reduce weight by 1000 grams. Move cg back to just forward of main gear. Increase elevator throw to 30 degrees. I left thrust alone and performance seems fairly similar to my P120 BobCat. Interesting to pull full up at full speed, something I would never do with the real thing.

In my initial session with the sim, I found similar problems on the BobCat (plus poor rudder response for knife edge) so I'll try those parameter changes. Otherwise its a remarkable simulator, just love the L39 and greasing in the A10, terrific fun and a valuable training/practice tool. Thank you for you input !

Bobber, I don't know what to do with the bobcat but I will soon create a unique model of it with the current one as a starting point. I've only had a crack at fly the bobcat a few times and from what I remember you are right. It seems too heavy and that is where I would start. Good things come in small packages. The availability of free open source models for this simm is astounding. There are so many great jets too!~).

The setup I described in my post above still seems a little short on elevator authority at low speed, but it appears to be a reasonable simulation, at least to me. I'd be interested in what other BobCat owners find. I think the wing airfoils are somewhat important. The actual BobCat has something close to a 12% foil transitioning from symmetrical at the root to slightly cambered at the tip. At low speed, the 9% root foil in the stock simulator setup just sinks out of the sky. It is a very cool simulator and good practice when weather doesn't cooperate. I highly recommend it.
