It has been a long time coming, what with the untimely death of number 1 model, but it was worth it. :D

It really is a great model, and as you can see plenty of performance even on a Wren 44 at 3/4 throttle ;)

I think it will be a benchmark for a long time to come (as is /was the L39 from Savex) with the ability to be built and flown on a 44/54/60 motor with safety by any competent club flyer, off tarmac or grass.

This is what Jim Fox was aiming for all along, and I really think he has it, great model...I am looking forward to flying it at the Nationals next week...:D:)[8D]

Beautiful Paul! I think Dreamworks will be importing these to the USA and I would love to do the Red Arrows scheme.
I hope I can finish it as nicely as you have done. I can't remember but I think you are using a Gold 44 too?

It really is a great model, I have yet to push its envelope but it will come. :D
As Trev said, the full flaps for landing is the next thing to try, but from what Trev experienced when he tried them, I believe it will be no problem.

It would be good if Dreamworks are going to bring it into the states, but I am not privi to that info.

Yes the engine powering the model on the video is a Wren 44 Gold, as you know, a fantastic little, light powerhouse. [8D]
As I have said before the only time full power was used was takeoff, after that it was half throttle with burst up to around 3/4.
The model is bigger than the L39 and as such makes installation much easier and also the cockpit being sooooo big lets you get some detail into it :D

You will enjoy it, and hopefully there is enough info on the thread to help with the build, if not I am happy to help in any way.

Well…….
I didn't get a chance to fly the model again before the British Nationals, but I felt confident enough in the plane to take it with me. :D
The Gods of English weather smiled on us this weekend and the Nats got some fantastic weather (very rare this year :eek:)
Even though on day 2 the wind was 90 deg across the runway.:eek:
The Hawk coped with the cross wind with ease, just a touch of rudder and no trouble.

I have now flown the model a number of times over the weekend and although i have not used full landing flap yet I can confirm that this is a beautiful plane to fly, :D
Being in a public show I felt I could not be a too adventurous, so basic manoeuvres such as rolls, high speed passes, 45 deg. presentation passes, loops and knife edge were all that I undertook.
The model fly’s them very smoothly and attracted a lot of interest from the flight line and public alike.

THe Wren 44 Gold is a perfect partner for this model but a 54 and even a P60 (Trevor) would turn it into a rocket...;)

It fly’s and feels like a much larger model, its 'sit' is right in the air and is very solid in high speed banked turns.
I used take off flap to land and as you apply them her nose just dips slightly, no worry or problem, it does not continue, just a change of flying attitude, so i am expecting full flap to be 'more of the same' :D
Elevator control is smooth and positive, the rock solid mechanism used by Jim Fox, functions perfectly without the need to mass balance them.

A word on knife-edge...she loves it! :D
No detectable roll couple, just put her on her side and 'breath' on the rudder...it goes onto rails and just steer with the elevator...beautiful.
If you push harder on the rudder she climbs [X(] I think it may be possible to do a knife edge loop [8D]

I have to say that as the weekend went by the knife edges got lower and lower...:D[8D]:);)

Two of the flights were videoed and when I have a copy I will post them for you guys.

I will continue to post as the final details are added I still have to paint the arrow on the underside and add the under wing fairings...dorsals...headlight...pito...[8D]

A very happy person returned home tonight from a great weekend [sm=wink_smile.gif]

Another good days flying with this great model :D

The Hawk is flying soooooo well as I am settling in with it.
During the day Trevor flew it as well and really started to push it, we had low level 4 point rolls, low inverted passes, slow rolls and really nice BIG loops. :D[8D]

Trevor even managed a knife edge to knife edge landing approach....interesting !!![X(]

Wind was around 15mph but the model handled it very well.

Tried the full flap but feel it may be too much, so did not land with it.
I shall reduce the movement and try again next time.

Anyway, got a couple of pics with the 2 together.
The black Hawk as the original wing (soon to be changed) as you can see the new wing, even though it is slightly larger, is not obvious when compared to the old one.

Trevor may post later with his views on the flight he had.

A "Senior Moment" on my behalf highlighted the new wings superiority on the gliding knife edge recovery front. This new wing demonstrates a more neutral flight pattern over the smaller/scale wing which the pilot has to fly in the turns, making it more user friendly and currently I believe this will be the weapon of choice for anyone wanting a home for their Wren 44. Quality has taken a step forward from very good for the price to "Can't be beaten" in my view.
Take off is quick and landing can be slow so makes it excellent for grass fields, with the bit in between an absolute pleasure.

Fully moulded wing in 2 halves with live hinging on flap and ailerons.
