Harpoon II

Guys

The first Harpoon II kit arrived with me last week. Model is the original Graupner Harpoon with a new canopy and larger opening and the addition of canards.
The kit now comes with control horns fitted to speed up construction.

My model is going to be a test vehicle for a two axis vector system.

I intend to fly this from grass with trailing link legs and lots of power

Dave,

When and how will this jet be available for purchase? Also, what is the diameter of the circle(s) in the formers that support the fuel tank? Do you think this jet will be able to fit the Jet-1A trailing link struts? Maybe a picture of the bottom of the jet would be great to post here as well.

Regards,

Ken

Hello Ken

The Harppon II is based around the eurokit landing gear
the ones that deploy when they want and not when you want!.
the full Jet-1A set does fit in the Harpoon II (the oleoset and wheels also)
we also have made a new spring to hold the extra weight that you guys like so much in the us.
infact we had a advertisement inside the RCJ international fot the new Harpoon II ;)

as for the covered part : how much was the Graupner gear?[:-]

Ken

Fuselage is now at home in the workshop-the mounts and openings are the same as the Harpoon and Rookie.
Most gear will fit.
My Eurokit gear has been 100% including three rookie events with 25+ flights a day...so Sandor dream on.

Tank hole is same as Rookie II so moulded tank will fit.
I'm not sure who will handle it in the US, but someone for sure...I'll email Graupner and see.

dave when will they be in stock and how much are they regards jetman

RE: Harpoon II

Jetman

They are due for release next month.
I'll PM price, but it's in RCJi this month.

So far I have finished the wings, cut out the airbrake blade (6mm wider than marked) and installed the wood work supporting the rear motor cover hatch and fitted (and tinted) the canopy glass.
Looks like a week of spare time to assemble one for normal operation, my two way vector pipe will add an evening.

so the harpoon2 is the same length as the harpoon1? which would be about 5 inches shorter than the rookie2.. let's see more pics Dave, I like it..

Dave Wilshere 03-21-2007 01:03 PM

RE: Harpoon II

Yes same length as Harpoon...shorter than the Rookie II...same as the original Rookie.

I'll bring it into the office tomorrow and do some more shots

Nope-I'm torn between fitting a 160 and the new 130+ Booster and my 130+ turbines won't arrive until Friday.

Carbuncle
It's a Zimmerman produced version

Ken etc

Some shots this morning

I fit the elevon servos the opposite way to shown in the instructions and use the 20mm JR Superservo arm.
I increased the width of the airbrake blade by 6mm-1/4" to help with drag for our short grass strip.

Nice Dave, thanks for the pictures. What is the wing spar tube made of? Will you set it up with elevators and ailerons or just elevons?

I think it is a better looking jet than the rookie 2.. the small canopy looks better, but you still have a large hatch opening.. I've allways thought the canopy was bigger than it should be on the rookie2.... nice job graupner, it's about time.

Aluminium-they do a solid carbon option
Set up with elevons only (all surfaces moving together) I'll use an Evolution Powerbox on this model to save channels

Carbuncle

Will do
