Double checking something!....

Guys,

The way in which the turbine/mount etc is having to be installed it is going to be very difficult to alter my turbine position so I thought I'd double check the opinion here.

From the pictures of the tailpipe and bypass, would you say my Booster 160 was too far back, too far forward or about right!

Cheers,
Mark

What you do not show is the inside of the pipe Is it a single wall or a double wall pipe and if so how much does the inner pipe stick into the bell mouth?

Single walled pipe and the bell mouth stops at the entry to the pipe....

wow, 172 views and no comments? Maybe it was worth double checking as it seems a lot of people aren't 'sure' ;)

I have a Mercury HP in a bypass and the distance is 19mm
runs ok plenty of power and no heat problems.

Have tested my Pegasus HP on an open pipe same distance
with no problems

I think its somewhat on the "too close" side, but should be ok.

Edgar, if John says 19mm works OK on his Pegasus but you think it's too close, what distance would you recommend?

Looks about right to me, there's a difference with weather or not fully bypassed or like with our aplication, I believe ours is a little more foregiving.
I finally just started building mine, I see your's coming nicely. don't go to fast wait for me....

I had a complete reply but it got lost when I posted it due to a "time out" the forum said and did not want to retype it.

I only run double wall pipes and set the gap at .5-.75 on 20 lb motors and .75-1.0 larger motors. This spacing will allow augmented air into the inner pipe and cooling air into the outter pipe.

I'm running my Artes Rhino (160 N) at about 25mm to 30mm. Double walled pipe.

Sorry don't have direct experience with your engine or plane. I believe in the past people used to put the engine tail pipe into the exhaust pipe anyway, so tha's why I think it should be ok.

Good luck,
Edgar
