Jason with Bob's HotSpot
1 Attachment(s)
Here is a photo of Jason Somes with Bob Wilcox's HotSpot. No doubt about it, Jason put in more flights than anybody on every day of the event with Bob's HotSpot. He flew in the rain a bunch, penetrating the cloud cover on purpose and did a few flat spins out of the clouds for encores.

Here is one of the photo's that I shot of Eddie's Rig. You can see that big turbine pointed downward suspending that thing in the air.

Prior to responding to your comments I would like to know who I am talking with and whether you personally witnessed the flying that you now criticize as unsafe. Thanks, Gordon Dickens |

Then simply go away. It's still a free country, if you feel threatened or unsafe go away. Scott |

Yadontsay,
First of all, if you want to get involved in conversations around here then why not post your name and location. It is quite appearant that you did NOT attend FJ. There was NOTHING unsafe about Jasons flying and as a matter of fact, he IS among the best pilots that attended the meet. I was there for every flight jason put on that spot and I can tell you that there was not one instance that Jason was flying in an unsafe manner. I suggest that if you want to be critical of anyone's flying you attend some meets before you comment. Out of the thousands of flights logged and hundreds of planes present at FJ, I am only aware of three crashes; I believe this in itself speaks for the quality of the pilots and aircraft that were present. It is outstanding to see so many complex aircraft take to the skys with one flawless flight after another! These turbine powered aircraft have proved IMHO to be safer and more relaible than the ducted fans. I enjoyed meeting you all....Happy flying... Todd |
Yadontsay much
Yadontsay is a troller or a member of the Deland Taliban, or a member of the "Knights of the Brown Table". He was green with envy visualizing Jasons' flight dissapearing then reappearing inscathed. I've see Jason fly many times, very impressive (except for his nervous leg palpatations). Just kidding, Jason...or am I?

Re: L159 Gear/Struts
bfk...
I saw the L159 @ FLA Jets (which is owned by Gustavo Campana of Argentina) and was also impressed by the landing gear. Ram's Manny Sanchez stated these were custom made by Robert (?) @ Rhom Air, which were purchased in large quantity by Luis Ontivieros for Ram. From what I know, they are not cheap so expect to drop several hundred dollars for these. I hope this helps you out. happy landings...M.C. Helvacioglu  |
L-159
FYI,
Franz Walti also sells a large L-159 and supplies his own custom gear. amay friend has the Walti SU-27 and its a quality kit at a very good price. I have not seen the L-159 but if its like the SU-27 then its worth looking into. Vin... |

Scary!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a blast! I got 11 flights on the new Bobcat and P-120 combination. What an awesome airplane and great engine. The Mississippi Gang had a great time both at Florida Jets and at Lumberton. We took 9 Turbine airplanes and other than a hatch coming off Vernon's Bobcat on his first flight of the weekend (he didn't get the latch all the way in) we came back with zero damage, and zero maintenance to perform. BFK's L159 Gear Question
hello bfk!
Let's go back a little, I think I am missing something here, perhaps even an inside joke? You stated, "SDC: "Knights of the brown table". Do you mean versus the Black, Yellow, White, or Red table? Because if I am thinking what you're thinking, what does color really matter? I'll elaborate on that point a little later. Regarding the nose gear, if you are interested, Ram can be contacted directly; however, I would be more than happy to do a little inquiry on your behalf. E-mail me @ [email protected] for more info. To the users of the Florida Jets Pics Forum, the pictures are great, but please excuse me while I digress a moment to bfk regarding "color". Let me use the turbine motors as an analogy, may be not the best to some of you, but to me it makes sense. For instance, what difference does it make to one whether one chooses to outfit one's airframe with a SimJet, JetCat, JPX, and/or AMT when essentially all these turbines are based on the same principle of design, with the exception of the color of the casing? And, the exception of AMT's "air-start" not "auto-start" feature like the rest of the powerplants on the market. If you ask me, I am too thrilled there is a continually growing proliferation of turbine manufacturers on the market, which will keep turbine $'s competitive and me the consumer happy. By the by, I was @ FLA Jets, and I enjoyed myself despite the irksome weather on Friday & Saturday. However, what is a complete letdown is that long time buddies of mine, Reps from AMT, refused to share tent space, I am not speaking of the actual AMT Rep Tent, with me because I didn't have the appropriate "colors" or AMT engine, because the powerplant I happen to be using is RAM! Go figure!!! bfk, I am not here to write a book, but I definately have my own opinions like the rest of us do. And, I will not play loyalist to one specific turbine manufacturer, just like I would when I choose an automobile, whether it's a Ford, Chevy, Import... I think you get the picture. I am just grateful for the variety of powerplants available, color or no color, and will not commit suicide by sticking to one turbine manufacturer. That's all for now...M.C. Helvacioglu ;) |
KNIGHT'S OF THE BROWN TABLE
JET GAL,
Hello, the term refures, to Dave Brown and has nothing to do with turbine brand, go back and re-read the topic from the top and it will hit you, and if you followed the delandgate :D scandel, it makes even more sence :) . regards, scott |

JetGal: "essentially all these turbines are based on the same principle of design". Not really. Simjet & Jetcat, and many others, are based on the KJ-66 design, but each manufacturer has then made their own improvements/innovations. AMT's are from a different lineage as are JPXs. Does anyone know if any of the Knights of the Brown Table spies were there and did they raise any stink?
