Now he needs a smoke system, preferably with smoke off the wing tips.

twin jetcats, looks like he may have 2- p-160s.

twin, jetcats I believe, site says p-70's.
I saw this bird in WJM2007, it is powered by twin P-160 with 1.5:1 thrust/weight ratio. Using two P-70 can just obtain 0.7:1 thrust/weight ratio, it is impossible to hover it.

Hi

I confirm engines 2 P160 SE inside.
Plane is a Basic CARF , but completly modified on the rear part.

That is the most awesome thing I have ever seen in a scale model. The 5' hover took ball$ the size of churchbells. I really enjoyed the flatspins . Hey, how about the "COBRA" move. My hats off to you Sabastino. That is one impressive model with some awesome flying skills for sure. I'm saving that video in the favorites:D A++++++++++

Wow, impressive! Much more so, than a 3-d prop hanger, I think... [8D] Thats no cheap airplane, for sure...

Edit --> Oh, I assumed it was the Fiber Classics kit. It is something different, apparently with a single P-160, as shown on his website...

Edited again per Gary B --> twin P-160s - Wow!

an eye wittness said he has 2 p-160s in that jet.. that would be about 80lbs of thrust, seems like a lot but that is a big jet.. maybe a comp-arf then he mods and paints them? video says it's a mig 29..

Seba is from Italy. He has been a past TOC pilot, top 10 F3A (pattern) worlds pilot, and one of the best freestyle pilots.

I cannot imagine what that plane weighs? Does anyone know? Did it compete at the WJM? I assume they weight them.

The reason I say that is that the turbines are mounted so far aft, it is incredible. I can't imagine how he balanced it. Incredible flying too!

Also does anyone know if he modified the kit to make it a 9-13 fuse profile or did he stay with the 9.12 profile?

EDIT: A quick back of the envelope calculation from measuring my plane says he would need about 1.5-2 pounds of lead in the nose with all else being equal. Not so bad I guess

He waited till the end of the demo to do that veritcal hover and climb out, i assume it works better after some fuel is burned off.

I want a thrust vector for my Rhino. Who makes it?

Jgwright 10-03-2007 11:38 AM

RE: Seba's 3-AXIS Vectoring Mig Video

Andy

The vector thrust units are in the JetCat catalogue. I saw this plane flying at WJM and it was as good as it looks in the video. Also it is worth looking at the full size Mig 35 demos in Youtube. Vector thrust demos by highly skilled model jet pilots in Europe is a fast developing art. There were a pair of J10 aircraft at JetpPower that were able to do a more convincing hover and rotate through 360 degrees only a few feet above the ground. Also Wolfgang Kluhr did a similar demo with his Rookie rotating through 360 degrees.

Incredible!! the video inspired me to get my mig back into the air again. Going to swap out the 120s and install the 160SE with Todd's thrust vectoring. Hopefully to get it ready for Sincity Jet.

This is where I ordered my thurst vectoring system for my Rookie II/P120, looks quite the same...

http://www.stukerjurgen.de/Englisch/home_EN.htm Scroll down the page...or go to Online-Shop for details...

Works nice in my Rookie. Good quality.

The dry weight of this plane is under 20kg (rule of WJM2007). But no matter thrust/weight ratio or total thrust they are all illegal under US AMA rule.

RE: Seba's 3-AXIS Vectoring Mig Video

Hi Likai,

When you say it is illegal under AMA rule do you mean the turbine thrust of are you speaking of rule 13 of the AMA regulations? Thanks Aman

Man, just when you think pilots cant make their planes anymore amazing something like this comes around. That is probably the most amazing flight I have seen on a jet so far. I cant wait to see who raises the bar above that!!!!!

I agree, if the SM Harrier ever comes out, and it will have to do VTOL to top that!!!

That's really impressive! I can do that in my Extra, but it doesn't cost as much as my car :D

Very cool, it would be interesting to see how the vectoring thrust in controlled. Maybe a magazine will do an article on the jet?

Hats off !!!

If you look close at the pics in post 14 you can see the vector pipes are controlled by 2 servos each, as are all 2 axis vectoring set-ups, which will control pitch and yaw, but with 2 vector pipes they can work seperately to give roll axis control also, making it 3 axis vectoring,. so I assume he has them mixed with/to the appropriate sticks.. I just wonder if he uses a gyro to help stabalize the hover, probably not, as good as he is...

I guess maybe now more guys will be useing the term "circle flyers" in the r/c jet world as well as the props..
I have said it before and I'll say it again "If a jet doesn't have thrust vectoring it bores me to sleep."
Just kidding all you "circle flyers"..:D

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?

The bar has been set! Truly amazing to think of something that big and that EXPENSIVE standing up on its tail and floating around that close to the ground.

Wait...it can't be real, it must be photoshop, or "videoshop" or something. Johnny are you out there--can you verify this?:)
