Hi Keith,

Where did you get the tanks and the missiles? Have you flown the Jet with them on yet?

Thanks,
Mike

Keith,

When did you get the tank from Mike? I thought we weren't going to get them until he returns from China in a couple of weeks.

Hi Mike the tanks are from the old Kangaroo model they were an extra add on, but they are the right size for the F16. i made the missles from 3/8 balsa and some thin epoxy sheet for the fins. the tanks arrived by air freight today mike was good enough to post them to me as i am in the uk regards Keith

Hi All,

I am heading back to the States on the 17th. I got a box full of tanks (empty) for you all. If you have ordered FE F-16 through my club then I will ship the tanks along with your F-16s.

I am asking my builders to make a set of sidewinder missiles first. Let me know if you are interested. I will post them on the RC marketplace later. 10 bucks each missile.

Keith, you are fast. I need to bull whip my builders.

Will expect to get partial delivery of the planes right after the Chinese New Year Holidays end in mid-February, not sure which ones are ready though.

Has anyone looked at their web site latley F-16 price is up by $300.

joeflyer 02-09-2008 06:38 PM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

The F-16 price went up $250 on Jan. 1st, just like they said it would when their introductory sale was over. The price of the Rafale will go up $300 on April 1st when that sale is over.

Hey Joe,

You are right, they did announce that before. I guess we got a good deal. I got my Rafale yesterday and unpacked it late last night, it looks great. I will take some photos tomorrow and will post.

Mike

They didn't waste any time. On Jan 1st FEJ had the F-16 price changed on their website.

You're right, we got a great deal. I'm very happy with the F-16. Not much left to do to mine except install the new Wren SS that arrived yesterday. Unfortunately the maiden flight won't happen until May or June, when the weather is good and our field drys out.

Hi Guys,

I don't like canard planes, but paying only $900 for a complete ARF Rafale, I said why not. I am expecting mine next week. Like for my A7s, I am building a shipping box so I can go fly anywhere. Let me know if anyone still wants to "group" buy this Rafale.

Ok Guys,

Here is a link to a photo show for the Rafale: http://photoshow.comcast.net/watch/Hf6qk2zY

The plane is well built and paint looks great. The only thing is that it does not have intake ducting pieces to hook it up to the turbine. They may come up with that later.

Mike

Nice show...

What engine are you using?

Do the carnards act as elevators or assist with elevators?

I have both the Tiger 16 and the regular Rafale on order--will end out with their F-18--that's enough. Like I told Mike via China, my wife will kick my butt if I bring another freakin' bird in the house--but I will have to take that butt kicking 'cause I just gotta have YA's F-14 when they finally release it.

I seen a photo of an F-14 that Skymaster is building now--do you know anything about it other than what's in the latest AMA or MAN mag?

Hi All my 3rd and 4th F16 flights took place today, all went well except for the retracks which would only go away when i slowed her up to allmost a stall,i think the slip stream will not allow them to retrack at half throttle even using 120psi,how ever speed was good and landings were easy regards Keith[sm=teeth_smile.gif]

if you're not using restrictors to slow the travel down (remove them if so) just roll it and they'll usually drop right in.

rocketman-RCU 02-10-2008 06:53 PM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Sounds like you are using a retract valve with an adjustment screw. Just back it out about a half turn for faster retract speed.

Hello MR DJ,

I do not have an engine for the Rafale yet, I will either go with PST600R, P60, Ram500 or Jet Central Bee. As for the F-14 goes, that is one of my favortie planes. I will one of these days order the Avond plans and build it up. There is this guy in Korea that built a couple of them, it is all hardwood and balsa covered with fiberglass cloth. It is an impressive bird. I thought Yellow had been selling the tomcat, I remember way back when they were advertising for it. There was one on RCU for sale a while ago.
I have not seen anyhting about F-14 from Skymaster, their website des not show anything about the F-14.
I got a Skymaster F-18E superhornet in a trade couple of weeks ago and will be building that later, it is huge....

Regards,
Mike

I will talk to Fly Eagle and see if they will like to come up with a F-14.

I will be getting their F18F hornet and test fly it while I am in China in March. Will keep you all posted.

Maybe we can go into another club purchase after the flight performance is verified.

Kool Beans, Mike…

YA does sell the F-14 as a DF—no one is buying it, but they have and are designing a turbine version—guaranteed to be a knockout. I have their F-15 ARF—awesome… Right now they are experimenting with different wings—they take their time to produce quality birds. Their just released F-22 was first flown by them in either 98 or 96—Charles, the owner told this to me via phone a month ago, and he’s been perfecting it ever since. So he’s had that for 10+ years and just now released it tells me he’s into quality—I love my F-15.

So anyways, he said it will be another year or longer before he releases it—no problem for me since I buy and take over a year to take out of the freakin’ box anyway…[&:]

In Feb 08 AMA or MAN, Anton of Skymaster is standing next the fuse of his F-14—didn’t say when it will be released but it looks sweet.

You’re a much better man than me to build a kit of one—that’s waaaay too much work—way too much work for me…:)

Like Mike Denilin above, I too will get that F-18 and then I’m freakin’ done…:D

I am bored here in China. Can't go to sleep when there is firework popping up all night. It's crazy here. They do nothing except eating and playing with fireworks. No wonder we can't get our planes in February.

About the Rafale, I plan to put a post on RCU market place. It's such a good deal. If we can have another group buy, then, I can pass the saving on the shipping cost to all in the States. It's easier for me to track the orders too.

Hi Guys,

Rafale -updated paint scheme.

check this out. This is what I would be getting. I chose the Tiger Meet for better visibility. I plan to put either a P60 or a Jet Joe. Will try to put all JR821 servos on all control surface?

Is 82oz-in torque on 6v battery good enough? Please advise. If so, I might be able to get this one completely built for less than $1500+$1100+$200(servos)+$500(parts and labor) for less than $3500. That should be quite economical. Comment please.

Mike do you know if they are still producing F-15's at the moment? I'm still waiting on mine. They had given me a date of mid march, just wondering if you could tell if that schedule was still on track.

Now if someone could get Flyeaglejet to make a Mig 15 I would certaoinly buy one of those.... For a 14 lb thrust turbine of course

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Mike,

I would advise against using the JR 821 servos. I have used their 811's in a couple of planes and was very satisfied. Since 811's were replaced by 821's I thought they should be just as good. So I bought a couple and was planning on using them on my F-16 ailerons.

Do an RCU search in the radio forum and you will find that numerous people have had failures and crashes because of servo gear failures. Those gears are a cheap black plastic instead of nylon and are unique to the 821 servo. The output shafts break easily. JR claims it's only a problem if you put CA on the screw (which makes the plastic brittle) or use it in something bigger than a 120 sized plane. In the forum there are many who were not doing either and still had failures. Some guys are using longer screws to hold the servo arm on. I'm sure that would help but it's not worth risking a $3500-4000 airplane.

From the responses it looks like JR is burying their head in the sand on this one. I ended up buying some JR 8231's for my ailerons.

Joe
