Hi Yes i tried to use the air rams as in the kit together with the recommended postion i spent over 5/6hrs trying to get them to work but there is just not enough throw on the rams to open far enough to get the wheels up and then close the doors tight. In the end i have used Robart rams with 30mm throw these work very well. The other problem with the kit rams is that they will not hold pressure. Also pressure test the tanks when assembled mine leaked around the pipes coming out of the bung which i sealed with some zap.

you could add some oil which might stiffen oles, they are not ajustable, try not to over pressure the tyres you have to take them apart to let them down just pump them up with retract pump

Thanks Frank

Hey Zivo,

I am working on the F-16 and eyeing the F-15 in the other room. I am planning to use a RAM750F for the F-16 and a Rhino for the F-15, I will have to fly the F-15 at 1/2 to 3/4 throtle. I do not have a smaller turbine for the F15, and Santa missed that on my list, oh well, we do with what we have right? [sm=lol.gif] I am looking at a Artes Falcon. The Rhino is really slated for a CJM F-4 that is sitting in the box being ignored right now.

What are you powering it with?

Regards,
Mike

Hi jetmodeller,

Are you talking about the F-16? Mine is working well with no issues. Make sure you have measured the mounting location properly. I made a little template with a piece of manila folder. It worked great, just make sure that you would have to flip the paper to get the proper location for right and left side. Ask me how I know [sm=punching.gif].

I had to re-drill the bottom of the cylinders so that the air ports would face inward. Was yours oriented correctly?

Thanks,
Mike

I was thinking about a super eagle JF-150 for the F-15

Hey Mike

I will be using Jet P120SE for the F15 and P80 for the F16.

hello,

It isn't necessary to re-drill, you can only turn the bottom of 90 ° ...

my gear door work great , but the exact location must be use.. or find ;)

For me, in the F16, i think to put a 54 class turbine in the tail.

Best regards,

Sébastien

Hi Zivo,

You beat me to it. I am going to put a P120 on the F15 and a good faithful P80 on the F-16.

I used to have an Artes Falcon on my SM F-15, but it's too under power for our short runway. A Rhino is going to be an over kill. Super Eagle and the P120SE are the best for the F-15.

Hi Sébastien,

I tried turning the ends, but they were tight and I was afraid it would break the seal. Oh well, should have asked before I put them under the mill.

Mike,

Rhino will not be an overkill, it is simply a better than one ot one weight to thrust ratio which will give you rocket capability....[sm=lol.gif]

Thanks and Have A Happy and Prospers New Year to All.

Hi Mike i am glad that you have got them to work,i tried allways but was not convinced. What measurement did you use the web site is not very clear i used 33mm oneway and 24mm the other was this correct?i had to redrill mine so the nipples faced in towards the centre of fuse. i am fitting a Wren Supersport 18lbs thrust with an exhaust duct regards Keith

Hello Keith,

I see what I did, although not intentionally, but it worked. I used the 33mm from the bottom corner. see attached photo.

BTW, for the hinges in the nose gear door, the last two toward the front will have to be modified by cutting the ears off. Do that before you install them, believe me it will be a lot easier.

Happy New Year,
Mike

What size cylinders come with the kit? What is the distance from nipple to nipple? Thanks.

I had been trying to decide whether to mount my Wren SS in the tail or in the conventional location on my F-16. I'm leaning towards a conventional mounting. After looking over the kit I don't think it will be practical to put enough weight far enough forward for a tail mounting.

Looking at the Skymaster website I noticed that they provide formers to mount the batteries in the nose. These also allow a removeable nose cone for access. See picture.

No such formers were supplied with my FEJ F-16, nor do the installation instructions on their website show any. Someone who does a tail mounted turbine would have to make nose formers similar to Skymasters. Did anyone get nose formers with their FEJ F-16? I suspect this is an oversight by FEJ.

Hi Mike yep allready done the ears on nose wheel door hinges, but i could not get the front one in there is just not enough room for the hinge and the ram,at last i have all the air system working and air tight,i am now starting engine installion, the FEJ exhaust pipe is a bit on the heavy side [13oz] i have a wren single wall pipe which weighs 7oz which is matched to the s/sport so i might go that route regards Keith HAPPY NEW YEAR to all

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Hey Keith,

I just got done with the nose wheel door hinges and cylinder. You were right there just isn't much room at all. The front hinge has to be pushed all the way toward the nose. I would almost say I probably could have shaved off about 1/8" from the hinge side (on the nose side) that would have fixed it. But since I had the hinge in already, I shaved off some material from the arm allowing the cylinder to come down. The real problem is that the front former is not perpendicular and it makes the cylinder deploy in an angle. I overcame that by loosing the screw that holds the cylinder and allowing it to swing.

BTW, what size servo are you using? I was planning to use JR 8411s for the elevator, ailerons, for RUdder I was going to use Volz. Steering DS821.

Happy New Year to ALL

Mike

Hello Sébastien,

Pictures are worth a thousand words. That is exactly what I was talking about. One thing I noticed on the pictures is that you have attached the hinges to the doubler and not the fiberglass material. My experience with the ABC material is that it is not a good surface to adhere to specially if there is any external load on it. If you look at the pictorial instruction, you will see that they have cut that material from that area.

I am not familiar with ds8911 or ds8511, do you have the specs on them. JR website does not show them.

Thanks,
Mike

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Hello mike,

I agree with you, for the ABC, but the doubler are not in ABC on my F16 kit, but in fiberglass!! no problem to attache the hinges. it's really strong.

DS 8911 = 25 kg and DS 8511 = 15 kg with 0.19 s /60° of speed, under 4.8 v ... it's ENORMOUS!!! :D

Sébastien

Anyone putting a cockpit in their FEJ F-16 and if so which one did you get for a proper fit?

I would like to know the same thing.. maybe a SM cockpit might be the perfect fit?

I am putting SM F-16 cockpit kit in that. I guess it must be a fit.

When I am there in the factory, I heard they said that they are coming out with a cockpit kit pretty soon. Hope that they are a lot cheaper than other brands.

Sebastien,

Did those plywood nose formers come with your kit or did you make them?
