I am pretty sure we all are going to do that, the hole does not need to be large, may be 1/16 to 1/8 inch. I would imagine that the hole would have to go through all the ribs.

Not sure if needed (better safe than sorry), but I used a 12 X15 (inch) piece of ceramic blanket and covered the top of the fuse from where the engine cover ends all the way to the second former. It is a bout 12 inches long and the 15 inch width covers the wing shelf where the servo wires run. I also used a piece long enough to cover the pipe all the way around to protect the second former and the elevator servos in the back.

Yes, the wood screws must be replaced with the supplied blind nuts and screws.

Did you use any sort of heat protection at all or have you found that the whole airframe is cool enough as it is.

Hi Most of you know that i am using a single wall exhaust pipe,all i did was to wrap a ceramic cloth around where the servos are about 6" long,i also covered the servo leads with ail foil right though after 20 flights i have not had a problem,F15 almost ready to fly will do the maiden at the weekend regards Keith

I checked my F-16 and F-15 and Rafale, no holes...... So the doctor needs to perform surgeory...[sm=lol.gif]. I will probably go ahead and order the new stabs just in case ....

Guys... does anyone know if a P-80 would fit in the f-16 given it has a larger diameter then the Falcon 100 and a Wren SS ?

I have got mine fitted with a RAM 750F which I beleive has slightly larger diameter and length than p-80. I am sure it will fit. if it does not, just get a bigger hammer[sm=biggrin.gif]

IF i did my calculations correctly on weight/balance with the Advance F-16 version it looks like i can mount a P-70 in the tail and get a very close balance with no dead weight. the overall weight of the Advance is a little heavier and allot of that is in the nose where it's now two pieced. 18# of push in the tail would be nice and save the weight of the tail pipe.

Guys whilst waiting for my F16 to be delivered (estimated end of last month but still not here [:o] ) I ordered a Rafale from Troy Models and paid for it last week so hopefully won't be long. I need some advise from those of you who have flown one, I have the chance of getting a cheap Wren SS 17.5lb thrust. would this be ok or should I pay out more and get the 54.

Paul,

Get the SS. The Wren 54 and SS engines weigh the same. It's probably more thrust than you need for the Rafale but you can always turn it down. The SS will give you more flexibility when picking your next plane.

Thanks to all of you guys, the information that is posted on this forum is of great help, especially for me. I am a beginner with jets and this is my fist jet model.

I have my F16 (standard not the advanced) on its way and I am thinking to install the JetCat P80 on it. I am from Malta and the runway we have is about 200meters long. I had been told that the JetCat P80 is possibly too large in dia and weight for that model. UK modellers are using the JetCat P60, but I think that the P60 will be marginal on its thrust on the F16.

How much runway did you used for takeoff and landing?
Do you know the weight of your F16 dry?
For installing the JetCat P80, did you had to modify the formers to fit the engine?
Re your JetCat P80 how is the throttle response/delay. Did you found any problems on landing because of the delay?

My setup will be very similar like yours and the equipment is as follows:
- 2x LiPolice Li-Po batteries 2-cell 2200mAh each for the receiver and servos. (weight 220g both of them)
- Emotec DPSI RV 6 powerbox which takes dual redundant power supplies (weight 105g)
- Emotec BMS 2-channel, this is a battery monitoring system (weight 58g)
- Orbit electronic solenoid valves. These are the PRO-P series. Single action for brakes, and 2x dual action for doors and landing gear.
- Orbit sequencer. This is like a Y-lead.
- 2x Hitec HS-5955TG servo digital 23.7kg for the elevator
- 2x Hitec HS-5645MG servo digital 12.1kg for the ailerons
- 1x Hitec HS-5245MG servo for rudder
- 1x Hitec HS-5645MG servo for the nose wheel
- Receiver 2.4Ghz spectrum AR9000 with two satellite receivers.
- The ECU battery will be Li-Po 2500mAh

This is a lot and I am wondering how this will be fit in the F16 and the total weight.
Looking forward to have the model in hand and start assembling it very soon.

the P-80 has one of the worst (if not the worst) spool times of any turbine out there, it's defiantly not the most forgiving on a beginner. in the F-16 it'll fit but it is heavier and being aft of the CG your AUW will be a few pounds heavier making it less beginner friendly. a P-70 or Wren SS would be better choices.

Just had an update from Flyeagle Jets on the F-18 - L-39 models, they are nearly done.

FEJ will be releasing the L-39 in about 7 days and for the F-18 as soon as 10 days if all goes well with the air testing.

They sent some pictures of the F-18 and from what I have seen, its a cracker, really nice scale detailing, large under wing tanks, scale rockets etc, no info on pricing yet [&o]

Oh well, a little while longer gents, just a little while longer :D

I hope you guys are having fun and luck but if I was going to do it again, I would not buy from this company. The kits look great like Obama, but when you really look close they actually suck. Just a warning, I had to modify and change 2/3 of all the hardware, retacts, wheels, fuel lines etc. The retracts have weak springs, the air cylinders leak, the hardware strips. They should just sell the kit alone no hardware or gears. Mine will be up for sale soon at a blow out fire get rid of it before it explodes I pay you to take it sale price.[:@]

So you did the F-16, right? Did you succeed in getting it flying? I can see where the hardware issues would be a problem getting it done (ever built a Kyosho ARF from a few years ago - talk about crap hardware ! [:@] ), but if you've been successful in getting it flying, what's the problem after that? I've looked over the FEJ F-15 we have and structurally its just as good as the Skymaster I did for a buddy of mine last year...

Ok....I'm about 40 days from biting the bullet (in the middle of moving right now).

Never flown a turbine but I have flown numerous EDF jets. Also been flying Giant aerobatic planes for the past 5 yrs.

I plan to have some help with putting together the plane. Flying around won't be an issue. Takeoff shouldn't be a problem either. Landing will just require practice and since I don't have my waiver yet I'll be on the buddy box.


I've been looking at the FEJ F-15. Though I'm not sure what engine. I prefer Jetcat so I'm leaning on the P-120 but was hoping someone may have already flown on this engine so I would know. I've already got a slew of JR servos so I'm fine there.

Questions I have with this model.

-Will cockpit kit from other planes (yellow/SM etc) fit this plane? FEJ said none is avail from them
-Is it stable in flight?
-Is quality good
-Anyone have release date and price for the Mudhen version (F-15E)? [looking for down the road on that one]

I'm just starting on our FEJ F-15, but as far as I can see, its an exact copy of the Skymaster/Xtreme Jets/Fei Bao one. I built one of those for a friend of mine and that's what lead me to get this one for my son Louie.

That F-15 was an *excellent* flying airplane. He had a P-120 in his and that's what we have for ours. The P-120 is perfect for this airplane. Its not going to go much faster than with a P-80, but takeoffs and verticals are much better with the P-120 and it does wicked high-alpha stuff with the P-120 which would not nearly as much fun with less power.

As I said above, I don't see much (if any) difference in the FEJ F-15 vs. the others, so except for having to deal with the hardware, oleo springs, and possibly leaky air cylinders, I think that the FEJ model is a good deal...

JUST MY HUMBLE OPINION,

OK the kits are not perfect I have the Advanced F16 and there have been a few minor issues but the key thing is their customer service is second to none at FEJ.
They are always happy to help and will make things good to the customer.
I am sure there are other opinions out there, however at just under $1800 with scale gear and cockpit and missles, ready to install turbine and radio I was not expecting top of the line hardware, I replaced my hardware with products that I have had good luck with in my other jets, however I feel that the kit comes with just as good or bad hardware as any of the other Mfg CompArf, Skymaster etc, and I am sure there are many opinions on what is good versus bad hardware.

Again just my 2 cents worth.:D

Keep up the Good Work FEJ you guys have a fantastic lineup of kits at very good prices.
