Am I missing something here.

The retract and door valves supplied with the kits have no exhaust on them. The sealing oring always has the same pressure on each side regardless of where the spool is. Am I to use a 3 way on each line as the exhaust? I would rather drill small exhaust ports on the manifold.

What about the F18F? No longer in test on their webpage.

I am realy curious about this one.

has anybody seen the cockpit kit for the F-16 advance for sale by itself for those of us with the regular F-16 that are too lazy to build up our own?

Hi does anyone know if a the HS85-MGwould be ok for the rudder? or would the jr ds161 be best? also does the 15mm give good performance in the air? Cheers Ian

Ian,
I'm curious to see the opinions regarding your question. Just in case you didnt know, there is a digital version of the HS85, HS-5085 that has 60oz/in at 6V.

Cant you fit a thin digital wing servo in there ? I'm not a big fan of using micro servos on high performance models... I would certainly not use an analog micro on a control surface

if you look back at post 1013 on page 41 of this thread [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7456975](or just click here)[/link] you can see where i put a JR DS3421 in the fin.

I have a question for someone who has seen both the "Tiger Meet" painted FEJ F-15 fly and the "Camo" FEJ F-15 fly.

How does the visibility between these two paint schemes compare?

I am considering buying one and am hesitant on which paint scheme.

Thanks,
Don

Hi Thanks, I think I will use a ds 3301 or the slimline servo,I was unsure about the Hitec after the model shop persuaded me to buy it, just wanted other opinions, Cheers Ian

There is an exhaust it is on the end of the brass rod in the air valves. ie it comes out the end as the O ring goes past the inlet hole in the valve. I thought my air valve was leaking but it was air passing the seals in my rams and going back up the tube and out the exhaust.

Also make sure the brass inner part is the correct way round in the valve body. If you look carefully you will see there is a difference in the positions of the nipples on the valve (ie distance from the end of the block). I also have a leaking ram/rams and FEJ have offered to send me replacement ones.

Thanks Dennis,

I finally had gotten figured out. One of my spools was installed backwards. Now I just gotta solve the leaking cylinders dilemma. I'm hoping the silicon spray that joeflyer has mentioned will do the trick.

I finally gave up on the fly eagle rams and ordered some from Dreamworks model products after paying the stupid english rip you off for buying in the USA tax. I got them installed and WOW! what a difference the system will now 100psi for 24hrs. Great considering I normally only check to make sure it will hold for say 30 minutes enough for one flight. I am now hoping for good weather this weekend because i keep getting rained off.

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Hi guys,

I am building my FE F16 (this is my first turbine). I can do most of the stuff, but never had any experience with retracts and air lines etc. I only flew electric pylon and gliders before this.

#So my question is, what is the general rule for air lines. Do I just gang them as close to the rams then run the one airline valves and sequencer (I am running the air power SU5 I think they call it all in one sequencer and electronic valve system)

#Or do you run the lines as close to the valves as you can then gang them. Obvioulsy I have red, yellow and white for brakes to gang. Then does it matter where you splice the pressue guage in????

# I only have one filler valve, so do I splice this in to both tanks and fill both at the same time or do you use 2 filler (one way valves)

FE only give you one filler valve and 2 tanks. I Know one is for brakes and the other is for doors and retracts.

I will be putting a Falcon in it by the way.

Thanks in advance.

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Mav,

When you say "gang," you mean put in the "T" fittings, right? If you only have one air outlet on your valve, then I don't really think it makes that much difference where you "T" the lines together. Do keep in mind though that "T" fittings will leak frequently, so put them where you can get to them and leave some slack in all of the air lines so that you can replace fittings if needed (and remove the gear for maintenance/repair when necessary).

I would not connect the brake and gear tanks together. If the brakes leak (they also frequently do), they you'll loose all the air for your gear and a gear-up landing always damages the airplane. I'd use two different fill valves and pressure gages and keep the brake and bear/door air systems completely seperate.

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

i go one step further, and use separate door air tank/filler valve, cause door cylinders often leak as well.

bigplumbs 07-13-2008 02:35 AM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

I would always keep all three air systems separate. Buy a small tank for the brakes and two more air valves. This way if you loose air in one the others will work. The most important of all being your gear and grar doors.

Fly eagle jet should give more than one filler valve. I bought 2 more from them or just solder a nipple into the rear of a standard car tyre valve

Dennis,

Ok I like this idea. So do you then run 3 pressure guages, 1 for each system?

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

I finally got to test fly my Rafale yesterday, not the best weather but I will run through all the good and bad.

I set my Rafale up exactly as the RCJI review which after the first flight I found the throws to be VERY wrong. The CG is about right at 130mm but as for 30mm for the ailerons on the first flight I was getting about 3 rolls per second (plane spun like a prop) with this movement so I put it back to the Flyeaglejet reccomendation of 15mm and it was fine. I also dropped the elevator to about 20mm. After these adjustments it flew great.
I used a jettronics air valve with an air switch activated by the nose gear to close the doors.

Now the bad news! I fly from a 300ft grass strip with no run off either end. After my first 2 flights I was finding i was using the whole strip and just getting into the air by the skin of my teeth. So i thought I would have to replace my Wren54 for a supersport. But unforunately on my last flight of the day the plane did not rotate and run straight into the rough. The nose wheel dug into the long grass and flipped the airframe over onto its back breaking off the nose and fin. The damage is to servere to repair I would require a new fuz and fin.

I will be contacting Flyeaglejet to see if they can provide a fuz and fin as spare parts. On another note I have found the UK dealers service to be less than ok to the point a friend has even approached trading standards regarding them. Myself I have been using TBM and Dreamworks and paying the import charges instead.

Hi Yakka,

I hope you can fix your Rafale soon.

Has anyone bought the Rafale EDF? I am very interested in this model. Can somebody tell me more about this model?

Best regards from germany

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

You are right about the ailerons. We have reduced them each time we have flown so we now have a smaller movement than the factory recommendation. I believe the factory thows have changed from the original recommendations. If you look at RCJI we had dual rates 30 and 20mm. We are now flying with 15mm on the lower rate. It seems a common feature of the model Rafales that they rock a bit as they come in to land and an aileron gyro should remove this entirely, and we will fit one for the next outing.

A 300 ft grass strip with no run off must be pretty marginal for most jets especially scale ones unless flown with a very powerful engine. We are still flying with the P60. The only real problems we have had was the rams which I replaced as you did with another make. The nose wheel can still occasionally turn past the slot in the yoke and rotate to 90 degrees making for interesting landings! I recently fitted a spring instead of the 2 blued steel pins and that seems a little better. I am still very happy with my Rafale.

Having a poke at the UK dealers when you didn't use them seems a bit uncalled for.

John
