It's not that all of us are looking to have the most powerful airplane at the field. I'm looking at purchasing a turbine that will fly other airfames in the future. That's why I was seriously considering the P-70.

I agree. I chose the Falcon for that reason, and their warranty. No other company out there even comes close. 25hr costs are "fixed" as well, and the spool up time makes it fly almost like a prop plane. I felt I couldn't lose on this one!!!

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

I'm leaning towards the Falcon, as well. After doing a little research, it's tough to beat. There's a couple of guys at my club that fly the Falcon in a Velox, and it's incredible. They've got it turned down, of course.

Best dollar value out there in the research that I have done on it. I know a couple guys who fly Eagles, and they love them. Plus Eric from Jet Central is AWESOME when it comes to support!

That's what I like to hear. I'll most likely purchase the Falcon. Just need to get the jet first. Can't wait!!

I pre-ordered a JC rabbit for the f-16, should be the perfect match.

There's not alot of info available on that new engine but at 18-19 lbs of thrust it should be perfect. Should be available in June.

Hi All at last i have a video of my F16 which should be on You Tube shortly this is its 17th flight. You Guys who are thinking about a Falcon for the F16 i have owned one of these engines and i can advise that this engine is to big and to thirsty for this model, if you like heavy models and short flights go ahead, the NEW jet central Rabbitt would be perfect engine regards KeithW

Joe and Mike as you know i am using a single wall exhaust pipei have a piece of ceramic paper around the pipe where the tailservos are, held in place by sticky foil,i have had no heat problems what so ever,i have of course covered servo leads with foil as well regards KeithW

I agree. I've bought two Wren SS's in the last 6 months. I told Eric at Toledo that at least one of them would have been a JC Rabbit if the engine was out sooner. Not sure that it's a good idea to get one of the first of any new engine though.

Keith and I are in complete agreement. I have a Falcon in my SM Gripen. It's a good engine in that application. The bare engine weighs over a pound more than the SS and it sucks a lot of fuel.

Keith,

Did you use metal or plastic servo arms back there? I have the Dubro HD plastic ones and am debating whether or not I should change them to metal.

I also had my share of air leak problems. I finally traced it to the nose retract cylinder. I noticed in an old post that FEJ had a batch of defective ones in their early F-16's. I had them send me a new cylinder and it seems to be fine now. Got the usual excellent customer service from them.

HI guys ,anybody flying with elevons on the f16? if yes what throws? and do you use flaps for landing at all or in some cases only?i also have some leak problems one of the valves oring is worn and a cylinder of a main door looks suspect.
rgds nicos.

Hi Joe i am still using the plastic ones as i have not got around to changing them, the super sport is a great engine i also have two one in a BoBcat which flys great 220mph what more can you ask regards Keith

For those of you familiar with the Supersport and the Falcon, what is the difference in spool-up times? I am a big fan of the Jet Central's lack of turbine lag. The ones I've seen respond almost as fast as a DA-100 on a 33%. Input please.
Thanks

joeflyer 04-28-2008 10:09 PM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

I have two Supersports and a Falcon. Both engines have excellent throttle response. They are close and I haven't timed them but I'd guess that the Falcon is a little bit faster.

Thanks Joeflyer. I am new to this and was really leaning Falcon, but now I'm seeing I may be making a mistake in doing so. Everyone around me here is saying go with a P70, but I really know nothing on Jet Cat aside from they are probably the most common turbine and have a little bit older technology. I also understand they have relatively slow throttle response, although I haven't seen one fly recently so I couldn't say for sure

ira d 04-29-2008 10:33 AM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

If you get a Jetcat with the SE designation they have the faster throttle response.

joeflyer 04-29-2008 11:22 AM

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

If you stick with one of the major brands Jet Central, Wren, Jetcat you probably won't go wrong. Read as much as you can find on the engine(s) you are considering including the "Turbine Clinic" forum to find out what issues owners are having and how good the service is.

Two important considerations for a first turbine are:

- Buy one that not only meets the needs of your first jet but one that could also be used in your
second or third jet.

- Get the brand that others in your club are flying. The help of someone experienced with the
software and starting anomolies will be a big help to you.

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

I got my Advance F-16 in this morning, it has the upgraded aluminum shaft stabs that FEJ has notified everyone about on the F-15/F-16 that can be upgraded. the scale gear isn't all that impressive,, my right main has allot of slop and i hope i find a set screw to tighten up and solve that, right now it's like a shopping cart wheel. the gear cylinders leak like a cow wizzing on a flat rock so bad you can't even cycle the gear up/down, will have to take them down and add some silicone grease and hope that cures it. had some damage to the right wing during shipping but it's being taken care of.

Oh one other thing i noticed is the fuselage on this one is two piece bolted together just behind the cockpit, the fuel tank that Mike offers will not work on this one, the included one is rather small and quiet difficult to get out of there.............
