Congratulations on your flight Sabestian, I am still chasing a ghost. Here is a vid of the gear working with the new 5 way value from Fly Eagle. What you can't see in the vid is that we are running it with 72 meg reciever. When I put it on 2.4 all i get is the lights and no operation. The voltage coming out of the 2.4 is 6.13 volts the voltage comming out of the 72meg is 6.09 same battery. All you radio experts out there got any Ideas on this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5z4XQSC6tY
thanks

check the voltage of the signal lead to the sequencer unit. it is probably a touch under 3 volts and the seq unit probably wants to see 3.2 or so volts.
same problem some hi tec servos have with the newer 2.4 rx stuff.

Help After 2 taxi tests I have managed to melt/distort badly my tail pipe???????????????????

I Have a FE F 16 and have 2 degrees between the turbine and thrust tube measued by incedence meter. So I have the pipe at the very top part of the tail mounted former.

I have a 1 inch gap between pipe and turbine. turbine is a Artes Falcon JF 100.

Can 2 degrees cause this problem??????????????????? it is so bad I will definately have to get a new pipe??????

Pic makes it look worse than it is but the distortion is at the bottom right of the pic near the turbine as you view it.

Help and comments please??????

Mav,

Yikes, that does not look good. It looks like you may not have had enough air moving between the two pipes to cool the inner one down. can you take a picture of the turbine end as it is pointed toward the tail? did you use the bypass and its upper loose piece that wraps around the engine tail? When you attached the bellmouth to the inner wall, is there a gap between the outer wall and the bellmouth for air to flow?

Like I said, there seems to be a problem with airflow over the inner pipe. Please let us know what you find as others may experience it.

Regards,
Mike

Mike,

I am very dissapointed. This is my first jet and I have had a very steep learning curve so far. When will it end??? I am going away in 2 days to Temora to maiden it now this!!!!

I will rip it out tomorrow and post more pics to answer your questions.

1 inch gap is recommendation from Artes manufacturer??? I give up!!!

Bill,
What pressure are you using with your retracts in the video as both the doors and retracts go with a real bang! How long to the manual as I want to start mine after Jetpower this weekend?
Thanks,

Ian.

Ian, All my build photos will be on the web site in the next week or so. We are changing our web site and the webdesigner is very busy with this at this time. Once we have upgraded the whole site he will be able to add things like the build photos. I am going over them all now and adding captions so you will know what you are lookin at. As for the Gear i had 100 psi. I get at least 6 cycles out of this.

I ran full throttle for maybe 3 to 5 seconds max more so to teach the ecu the battery voltage after a charge. I have just found out anohter FE F 16 running a Falcon that has flown has also collapsed the inner thrust tube??? I think I will email the factory.

The reason there is 2 degrees difference between pipe and tube was for correct thrust angel. Have I done somethring wrong here?? Are the FE pipes poor quality stainless??? They look the part out of the box????????

email the factory their customer support is excellent they'll tell you if theyve seen the same problem

my tube is good quality for sure the rear side of the tube is off-centered by a couple degrees and I was too lazy to correct it before flying, 5 flights later the tube is fine and the plane flies straight so I'll just center it this winter

whats your EGT at full throttle on the falcon ?

They are going to send me one, but I have to pay $40 for shipping. Great service!

I just hope I do not have this problem again!

I did my maiden FE F16 Plus at Temora on the weekend. Unfortunatly my video packed it in at the field so no vid sorry. Big thanks to Paps (Peter) for all the hours of replumbing air and fuel lines that I buggered up. Also Paul from SA for the excellent calling during maiden and Brett the Jet Central Rep in Oz for fixing my starter problem on the Falocn JF 100.

All went off perfect and flies like on rails. This is me still smiling after the flight!! This is also my first jet. Unfortunatley I think I like it:D

hi guys,

i will do my maiden next week and i want to decide whether to fly with ailerons without flaps or make elevons and use ailerons as flaps.can i have feedback from all of you who flown what did you do in this case and if flaps are needed on the fej f16 standard version? also is anybody flying with a graupner mc24? rgds nik

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Nik,

You'll probably get opinions both ways. I had about 150 flights on my Yellow F-16 and 6 so far on my FEJ F-16. Both have conventional aileron and elevators.

I have never flown an F-16 with tailerons, but I have seen a few and they don't seem to fly as well as those with a conventional set-up. First off the F-16 does not need flaps. The plane slows up quite well when you pull the nose up. With the proper nose up attitude and power setting you can do a nice carrier type landing.

The main reason I prefer the conventional set-up is for redundancy. If you loose control of one of your tailerons in the air you will crash. If you loose one of your ailerons or elevator half you have a chance of bringing it in safely.

I would recommend the conventional set-up for your maiden. Once you get use to the plane you could program in tailerons using a flight mode switch (if your radio has that capability) and switch back and forth in flight to see what you think.

RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Guys

Got my Fly Eagle F16 today and am generally very happy with the model for not much money, couple of small dings on the fuselage which is surprising as it is well packed. Not bad enough to justify sending it back so I will repair myself. One downer is the oleo legs, my nose oleo and one main oleo are very stiff and will resist a lot of pressure before moving and will not rebound all the way, the other main is fine. Anyone else have this problem and did you manage to fix it or get new parts? Other minor issue is that the cockpit tub does not fit the scale cockpit and will require a little surgery.

John
Mine started like that i could hardly even push them in at first. they seem to seize up if they had been left for a long time. I put the new springs they were offering in mine as when all the equipment/ turbine was in they started sitting too low. i took them apart and gave them a clean and added normal car shock oil if the plane is left standing they just need a couple of pushes now and they work fine. Hope this helps.

Make sure your gear oleo's have heavy wt. silicon in them. The small ID strut (the polished one) should be full of the silicon.....not oil. The oil, if yours have that, is too thin and allows the rubber seal at the bottom of the strut tube to "stick" to the polished strut.

I am thinking of putting a P120 in a FE F16. With the centre tank a 5 min flight with 1 go around should be possible.

Has nayone done this???? Any comments welcome.

Well I give up with these @#$%ing retractsand door rams leaking.Fly eagle wont give me any help with replacement parts,so what retracts are other people using with the F-16? 1/8.Also are you using the stock struts wich are a metric size I think.

Thanks Frank
