I saw the liberty at Pampas, nice plane!! Looks really fast :P
We'll see what a P120 in a 1/8F16 brings.. I'll take it slow ;) Straight passes and verticals should be fun ;) :D :D Will keep you all posted! Hope to fly it within a month or two ;) Hans |

Hi All,
My Plane Finally arrived!!!!!!! placed order in Mid June and arrived last week!. But it did arrive with no damage at all and looks AMAZING. its the F16 Advanced version. i was thinking on putting a kingtech k80 on it but didnt buy it. i got a P80 around Non Se version and am thinking to put in? what do you think? i didnt weigh the plane but i guess its around 7kg just out of the box. i got their E5VU with the order, hows it performing? as for the servos am planning to fly it standard style(no flaps) and i was thinking of using the JR8711 but maybe that would be too much?. please tell me all what do you think. i also got the plane with the operating canopy, has anyone got any issues with that? i've finally joined the JET AGE! :) :D:D KAON |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
After nearly 6 months waiting my Hawk has arrived. I'm posting because I think they need credit for the way everything was packed. I have also received a C-ARF Hawk and the packing was almost as good. All was in perfect condition.
I think they have learned a bit from when I received my F-16 a year ago. And the finish is close to perfect! I have never seen such a perfect painting from any of the Chinese before. ( I must admit I haven't seen the latest Skymaster sets) |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
welcome to the dark side, the 80 will do fine, just check your rpm settings through the ecu, you want 21lbs of thrust I to have two f-16s both fly great and both have 80s, you will find you need all the power on takeoff but during flight only half throttle, verticals are no probs just remember to power up. 8711s are fine, they have no slop and are more than adequate, make sure you have good battery packs, I use three I have one for the ecu and two for the receiver also this will help with the c of g.
All the best with it you will find it flys lovely and you will have fun. Also I usually allow 5 mins run time with my 80 I do not have a centre tank and I find this time is sufficient. regards Todd |

Where do you guys fly now, still Embaba or have you moved to 6th October? Chris |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Hi Chris,
well now you know i exist :) PM i'll send you my #, call me if you come back. well, imbaba is now closed for us, again!!. but we do have 6th october airport available for all RC Flyers now officially on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. its great flying there too but far. did you fly your planes here in Egypt before?? Todd, I have the P80 non SE, i don't think it reaches 21lb of thrust, i never measured it but i reckon it must be 18-19lb or so?? what do you think? Regards KAON |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Kaon, if you have a serial number of over 2000, then you should be able to update your ecu from 118000? to 126000 rpm this will give you 21lbs of thrust, if you can only get 18-19lbs that would be fine, just make sure the weight is ok and that you have sufficient runway always allow extra length on grass, also pump your tyres up slightly and that should help.
Just do some dummy runs at your field and you should be able to judge the correct speed/distance you need for a takeoff. all the best Todd |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Hi Todd,
no mine is below 2000 :( but i gotta 2000m runway :D so takeoff should not be an issue at all (i hope). i'm puzzled with how to fix the nose cone and the tail cone? i checked the pics on their manual but nothing was there? thanx Kaon |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Just get some 1/4 inch square ply pieces, and some small screws and screw them on, glue the ply pieces on the inside of the fus. usually four screws per item is fine.

I was a Skymaster fan but have now moved over the the FEJ after reading all the good reviews on the FEJ F-14 Tomcat.
My first jet is going to be the FEJ F-15E (1:7) in JASDF Blue with twin turbine(photo from FEJ Webpage), but I just have to wait until April 2010 before I can place my order. going in to hospital in Feb 2010 for dual hip replacement[sm=cry_smile.gif] |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Hi Kaon,
I flew in Imbaba between 1986 and 1994, when I left Egypt, semi-permanently. At times, when Imbaba was being closed for security reasons, myself and the older Cairo RC flyers, used to fly at my farm in Wadi Natroun (I made a short concrete runway for that). I guess, from the old gang Bebo (Bahaa) should still be lurking around. Those were tough times for us, back then, no model shops and only one club to supply some Balsa wood...then St. George opened up near Cairo Airport and some more modelling stuff made its way to us. You guys are now spoiled with that new shop in Nasr city!! BRG, Chris ORIGINAL: KAON Hi Chris, well now you know i exist :) PM i'll send you my #, call me if you come back. well, imbaba is now closed for us, again!!. but we do have 6th october airport available for all RC Flyers now officially on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. its great flying there too but far. did you fly your planes here in Egypt before?? RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Keith, can you or any others advise me please?
I'm in the process of finishing off an 1/8 F16 advanced version with three tanks. I'm a bit confused with the fuel plumbing. FEJ diagram shows two tanks plumbed in parallel. Am I correct in saying that the feed from the main tanks are teed equally to supply the third one and the main tank vents are joined to the small tank vent to the outside of the fuse? In other words the small tank uses three connections, 1 clunk feed to uat, 2 to common vents and 3 fuel in from main tanks? Sorry to be a bit thick, Gary. |

Gary,
Not quite. The feed from the main tanks are teed equally and go into the vent on the small tank. The vents from the parallel tanks are equally teed and vent to the outside of the fuse. Here's a diagram. Joe |

Joe, you're an absolute star, thanks very much for that.
I assumed that the nosetank would need to vent, presumably it must do that via the main tanks then. As a matter of interest what do you use as tee's for tygon, festo's? Regards, Gary. |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models

Gary,
The nose tank needs to be non-vented. As fuel is drawn from the nose tank it creates a slight vacuum which draws in fuel from the main tanks. I use tygon up to the pump and get nylon tees from an auto parts store, the type that are commonly used for automotive vacuum hoses. Also since tees add considerably to system restriction I buy oversized tees and force them into the tygon. For example if the saddle tanks are plumbed with 1/8 inch tubing I would use a 5/32" tee. Then the single line after the tee would be 5/32" tygon. Remember that the line after the tee has to flow twice as much fuel as each line before the tee. Another way to reduce system restriction is to not use a tee. Instead install two vent tubes into the nose tank and run each saddle tank directly into the nose tank. You need to insure that each vent tube is identical and have equal lengths of hose from each saddle tank. Here's a picture of how I did that on my F-16. Joe |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Thanks again Joe, I'll do that. It looks from your pic as if you have removed/modified the former at the cockpit rear to take your front tank.
Mine is the one supplied by FEJ which is really akward as it is flat fronted and squashes against the former which means the tubes have to go at right angles to avoid kinking. Good idea to have your uat facing rear also. I'll post a pic when I get home this evening. Regards, Gary. |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
My nose tank is different than yours. It's a 22 oz. flat tank from Global Jet Club. It fit in without modifying the former. I did, however, have to shift my equipment forward to make room.
Joe |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Understood, I can't believe how tidy yours looks, mine is a bit more cramped!
Gary. |

Joe, just took a some pics, have to drop the uat more to clear cockpit details, the guy I got it off already put the pump mounting in so I guess I'll have to have a forward facing uat!
See what I mean about the front tank, I think I'll have to bend the pipes at 90 degrees, I'm terrified of kinking the tygon. Gary. |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
That center tank is not the best design. This is the one I have: http://www.rcuniverse.com/market/item.cfm?itemId=556105
Global Jets was selling it for this application before FEJ came out with their version. I don't see it on Global Jets website any longer. It's 22 oz., not 20 as stated in the ad. Check out those FEJ air valves to make sure they work properly. Most guys had trouble with them leaking, as well as the rest of the air system . I finally gave up on mine and installed a UP3 valve for retracts & doors, and a UP6 brake valve. Also I went with Airpower door cylinders. The 1" throw Airpower cylinders are almost a drop in replacement. Joe |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Joe,
Let me know when you get your Merlin 90 and what you think about how it pushes the FEJ F16???? Mav |

Hi
question for anyone, i've drilled the holes for the hinges on the aileron but i noticed that 1 hole only had a wooden block behind it. shouldn't all holes have wooden block behind them for the hinge to hold on to? i followed the measurements on their pic. manual?? Regards, kaon |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Thanks for that Joe, I normally use Jetronic valves but as these babies had already been installed I thought I would try them.
I have read the whole thread a couple of times and noted the horror stories! I have had the valves apart and siliconed them etc and they are all holding 120 lbs for at least three days so may try them. The stb gear did not want to retract fully but I traced that to a leaking nipple in the air cylinder. Also the front door doesn't want to close fully so I will take your advice on the rams, Gary. |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
Koan,
yes there should a block behind for the hinge assembly, is it possible that you may be off by a bit hence missing the blocks? can you insert a wire through one of the holes and fish it right and left to see if it hits the blocks? If for some reason they are not you may have to cut a larger hole near the holes you have and insert a wooden block and attach it to the back of where your current holes are. Regards, Mike |
RE: FLy Eagle Jet Models
hi mike,
just checked it and i had to re-drill the holes on the aileron by 15mm. whats interesting is that the centering hole they made was also offset by this much too. how much far should the pivot of the hinge be positioned in the wing and the aileron?? Regards, kaon |
