Need help with TJT 3000
1 Attachment(s)
I need help with my TJT 3000, I got it not to long ago, today I had the chance to put it on a test stand, everything was going well 'till I try to start the engine, the Thermocouple is reading 236 degrees before I do anything and when I bring the throttle stick up to the top it goes into cooling mode, I see why it goes into cooling mode but, what's the deal with the temp. unit? [sm=50_50.gif] and where can I get a new one? ( this is a type "K" Thermocouple )
One other thing, I like to get the latest version for this FEDEC ( Gaspar ), where can I send it to have it updated? Thank you in advance for any advice. |

Hello Carlos how are you doing:)
I am not familiar with the TJT Turbine, however if the thermocouple is plugged in backwards in the ECU it will give you strange readings[X(] Rich |
RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Hi Rich
Nice to hear from you, how is the North East these days. I try both ways, got the same results. :( |
RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Check with I-Jets. I believe they now own the production rights to this engine and have just released an updated version....

RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Carlos, do you have a Digital Multi Meter, if so take a resistance reading, I just measured my Jet Central Falcon, (looks like the thermocouple in your photo) and it reads 6 ohms.
The weather her has been WINDY, haven't been able to fly for a week now[>:] |

Thank you in advance for any advice. Sounds to me like you have a faulty thermocouple or possibly a FADEC problem. The quickest way to resolve any potential TJT electronic component problem would be to ask Gaspar the designer of the FADEC systems used for the TJT-3000. You can contact Gaspar directly yourself here at Xicoy http://www.xicoy.com/ And the FADEC customer assistance forums http://www.xicoy.com/foros/index.php?board=7.0 You may also order any required electrical components including thermocouples and FADEC ECU's, fuel pumps, bearings etc via Xicoy. Hope this helps Cheers- Marty |
RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Thank you marty.
I had an idea and went to try it, I raised the minimum temp past the 266 to 276 to see if I could induce the FADEC to do the strating sequence and it did ( no fuel no propane ) but I still need the FADEC lattes revision. |
RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Rich, I did but it was taken apart in the hopes of getting a turbine to start ( long story :( ) but thanks for the idea ( I have to get me a new one soon )

Gaspar should be able to isolate the exact cause quickly for you. Please keep us posted as Iam sure it will be easily resolved.... Cheers- |

Will do.

RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Looks like the thermocouple is shorted to ground. Try to remove it from the engine and try again holding the TC tip in the exhaust, but without touching the engine body. If all OK, then you only need a new TC.... and to take care with the new one of to not bent sharply while installing.. Gaspar |

Leonardo
I did per your instructions, I removed the Thermocouple from the engine and it gave me the correct ambient temp, I put it back in place and it seems to have fix itself because it is still giving me the correct ambient temp. Muchisimas gracias por su atencion y pronta respuesta. ps: I will be posting a question about the AU 303 V 1.1 FADEC on your page. |
RE: Need help with TJT 3000
Usually things don't fix themselves alone... Unless you have found the isolation of the leads of the TC clearly damaged and fixed, I reccomend to replace the TC, it will fail again when hot if the damage is internal.

I agree 100% with you, I will change it.
Thank you |

I like to report that the engine is running fine. I finally had time to play with it today and got it to run without any gliches for 6.5 mim all the way to full RPM and through the cooling process too ( the darn thing wanted to lift the test bench at full throttle :) :D )
I end up adjusting a few things on the FADEC progam, changing the starter "O" ring ( it is a grommet ) setting it with a drop of CA and I will have to get me a new Thermocouple, most likely from Tod at Dreamworks. I like to thank Marty ( Jet FX ) and Mr Gaspar himself for their imput and suggestions. |
