RE: TBM Shock Jet
ORIGINAL: Mr DJ Jed I see you're using Futaba's 2.4. I have the 12Z 2.4 as well... Any glitch problems with your receiver so close to your ECU and what looks like an MPI duel regulator? I have the same regulator. Other - I was disappointed for a while when I first bought my Shock - TBM advertised it with only the Bee - then later added the JetCat. And you seasoned pilots took it even further with larger turbines. Well, I wanted the most power and speed I could get, but then I looked at my other birds and said; well, I'll save the real muscle for those puppies :D So I'm kool with just the Bee - I think :) Mr DJ Jed |

OK... Jet-Tec has one also that will work. I have been talking to Gary on a different one, But this one will work.
Molded Kevlar tank designed to fit the RAM/Jet-Tech F-15. This is the center large tank that supplies one turbine of the twin configuration. The tank holds 96 oz. Length is 10" Height is 5.25" Width is 3.5" The fuel fittings can be placed to your preferences. Price is $135 and includes the Jet Tech "O" Ring style Fuel Fittings |

Hey guys, I believe Todd at Dreamworks sells an upgraded tank for the JetMach, might check it out.
|
RE: TBM Shock Jet
So did I, When I talked to Gary he said that they went under. He also said that he bought the molds from them. He evan stated that he made lots of tanks for them also.

I have Jet Central turbines and a Futaba radio 2.4... I was trying to set the radio to the ECU. I got the full, low, and idle settings. Then it asked for the Thrust Curve: Half, Full, and Linear - see below. I don't know what to enter or where to move the throttle stick. What should I do? Thanks... Mr DJ |
RE: TBM Shock Jet
Jed, my Man - many thanks for the call - you hooked me right up. You and Gerry are the Bomb :D

Mr DJ It does not matter were you put the stick, just chouse the curve you want with the - and + buttons and then press "menu up" button to exit the curve menu "Linear" will give you half of the thrust at half of the stick travel and "Full Expo" will wive you half of the RPMs at half of the stick travel Juan |
RE: TBM Shock Jet
Juan, hello...
Is this something a pilot wants or needs? What do you use? Many thanks for the explanation... Mr DJ |
RE: TBM Shock Jet

RE: TBM Shock Jet
Gerry/Jed
I finally finished the build. Waiting on the propane regulator from Dream this week so I can fire that puppy up... I've tested all the componets for a nano second via the HDTall seem to want to do something :D I've kicked over the starter for 2 nano seconds once or twice. So now, correct me where necessary: Prime System: - remove 4mm tube leading to engine - use whatever to catch fuel - run pump via HDT Engine Start Up: - connect propane - open fuel valve - open propane - start engine - ECU will take over from there, but - keep propane open until i hear the difference in sound - close propane and cap line - run engine to full power and check HDT - back to idol - remove HDT - rock and roll Engine Shutdown: - from idol, raise to half power for nano second - throttle down - trim down - if i don't turn off power, engine will begin cooling cycle - if i turn off power, have electric leaf blower to cool down engine (i have a blower) How was that, Gents? Silly question, how do i drain fuel from tank if done for the day? don't think i can reverse from BFT since there are no clunks on the two nipples. Enlighten me please. I do know i should leave fuel in the BFT. Check this: I have all components as far forward as possible. I have two four cell bats in the nose. With all that, i still had to add 6oz of lead to the nose and she barely balances. Still a tad tail heavy. I know i will have fuel in the BFT always (hopefully) but still. Did any of you have such a problem? and I'm using the Bee. I think i read the ECU has an auto failsafe-true? I have Futaba 12Z-haven't read the failsafe section yet-do i need to? Lastly - the rpm sensor lead that's sheilded, must/should it not be bundled to any other lead, fuel line, etc? Thanks... Mr DJ |
RE: TBM Shock Jet
Mr DJ,
Looks pretty good, don't forget to reconnect the fuel line after you purge it. Check the balance the plane with UAT (BFT) full. When you are finished running, use the line that you filled the tanks with to empty the tanks, it will leave the UAT full. I'm not sure about the RPM wires, I put all mine together on the Rhino with no problems, you might want some other opinions too. Jed |

What a difference a phone call makes... I'll take a photo of my insides and post tomorrow. I did the velcro just like you; thanks for that tip... I will play with this puppy via taxiing around at my field this weekend, then I'll get ahold of my CD in German Town the following week to get my Waiver... Hey, Gerry just called me - he said just what you said - all looks good go; and a few other things... You guys are great - glad to be in your company... Other - I think i told you all the jets i have and the two on order - well, FEJs is now making the F-14 - my last plane... Talk at you tomorrow... Mr DJ |
