I may lower my plane with a set of carbon fiber gear I have lying around, the nose gear works good except when the brake is on then it bounces and skips along and everyone asks, what's wrong with your plane?

Kevin,

Exactly! And every time that happens the spring winds up and stresses the nose gear mount.

I think I'm just going to rebend (spread apart) the stock main gear and lower the nose by moving it up further into the mount.

Doing this will also spread the mains apart making it more stable on the ground in a cross wind.

To those using crow for landing,

How much up aileron do you have dialed in at full (85 degree) flap????

Thanks
Bob
Bob,

I use crow all the time. When I set it up I found that if you take about 10 deg. of the flap out it flies really well. I had about the same set up you had with flaps only. The ailerons are up at about 75 percent of full travel.

Thanks Jed!

I didn't realize it took so much aileron.

I probably won't get to try it until the spring time. It get cold and snowy here in the winter.

I have a trailing link nose strut fits on the same size music wire, off of a Byron A-4 that I will install and add air wheel brakes on the mains. I have the parts laying around that will allow me to do this and give me really solid brakes. will post a pic of the strut in a bit.

hey Meesh, how about some ski's? that would be cool:D

Has anyone thought of lowering the plane? The landing gear has it sitting real high and as far as I can see there is really no need for it.

Thanks
Bob
Have been looking for a C/F main gear the correct size but haven't had any luck yet.

D Wheel, If you are flying off grass lowering the plane will leave brown strips all over you field. Don't ask me how I know this. I striped up a field with the plane set up the way it is now.

thanks

Kevin,

I thought about skis, that would be cool..........er........COLD!

Stopping could be a problem though on an ice covered snow pack.

I think with the skis you could use the brake servo to pull some retractable skegs down in the main skis. a small spring to pull them back up after release of the brakes. if I ever had snow I would give it a shot.

dump the powermax
just get the green propane bottles at walmart and do an off-board start.
No more on-board gas bottles

Mr. DJ, Go to the store get yourself a Propane torch and do this to the top. No need for the Powermax as I have heard it will be discontinued in a year of so any way.

Bill, my Man

Where would I get a tip like that from? If any soldering is required, my skills in that department is crapy at best...

And I tried the green bottle with a regulator from Dreamworks - didn't work worth a crap - sent regulator back and wasted the rest of the bottle [:'(]

I now have a Trigger handle for the PMax - just running low on it. But Bill, I would like to have the setup you have - maybe you can make one for me - old pal, old buddy :D

how did it not work?
I have been using this setup for over a year on many motors.

What motor are you running?

It just wouldn't work. Nothing came through the regulator - it was faulty I suppose...

Thats odd.
All that I have seen work like a charm, just go right into your gas solenoid and open it all the way and let the solenoid do the metering

OK Guys, Let me run a new one by ya. At least, new to me. Ha. Was setting up my Shock tonight with Receiver control through the ECU. Had the ECU taught for throttle. Would cycle my throttle stick and an error MSG. Stating no RX Signal. I'm using a 7.4 5600 Li-ion through a standard JR switch. I bypassed the ECU switch and 5600 Li-ion with a 7.22000 Lipo. wala perfect cycle. Could the small wires on the switch be causing the prob? If so, where in the world would a find a RX switch with wires big enough to carry the amps?? The wires on the 5600 Li-ion is small also, so don't see how I could get around not resoldering bigger wires on the pack. Anyone ever had this little work-around?? I sure would like to use the lighter Li-ion. Thanks guys.

What radio are you using??? Mine did the same thing! I had the antenna down and the radio next to me and the plane. Moved the radio and pulled antenna out and it never happened again. I know this has happened to many people. This is how I found out.

I can spare 2 new cans of Powermax for you to use.....Just replace them whenever you find a source for the stuff near you.....No hurry.....You're not really far from me.....I'm glad to help you out.....

U Da Man, Richard

I may take you up on that. But I did find a place about 45 miles from me in VA called G Mountain. You're probably further away. We'll keep in touch...

Many thanks...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Gerry,

Found out just a mom ago. that the ECU just don't like a Li-ion. I bypassed the switch, harness and all and plugged a 7.2 Volt 2000 Mah nicad pack into the ecu and works great. Put the 5600 Li-ion straight up to it and it's a "NOGO". Guess I will try a Li-po next and see what that does. I have a JR 10X with a 955 RX. Fromeco switches and Bats all around except for the ECU switch. You would think that voltage is voltage but not to this little Modellbau T-500 ecu. The turbine runs like a top on the stand. I'm just trying to set it up for full autostart in the plane. I will get there one way or the other. Sure wanted the lighter battery though. Thanks for your reply.

Roy aka Hooker53
