I'll hemostat the plug wires to satisfy the ECU and light it off with a grill lighter!!! Ha. thanks both of ya.
I think you were joking in your comment.....

The ECU sends a small current to verify the plug circuit, if you short the circuit you will burn out the MOSFET driver in the ECU.

You are correct the higher the number the less the current (or at least that how the Version C03 works)
I ran My Rossi plugs at around 35-40 and McCoy plugs at 55-60

Yes Rich we were joking. Ha. Ha. I had four good starts this morning and getting ready to go to the field in a Min. I will try these plugs I got ready last night on 56-58. Thanks Hope you got my e-mail address for the photos Later. Roy

Well Guys,

All my worrying about how I was gonna fly this Shock was for nothing. After all the good help on the plug Prob. I flew it today 2 times. Man-how sweet. Straight down the runway at a little over half thottle and after a good rollout pulled back on the stick and away she went. Never had to trim anything but 4 clicks of up Ele. The weather was the worst for flying and did not do much with her but still was the ult. thrill. First landing was straight forward. The last was holding the nose up and main gear down first. She's a good girl to land. I never got her over about 5/8 throttle because the Viz was the worst and with tears in my eyes from the cold. Just wanted to get her around the patch a few times to Satisfy myslf and the guys at the field. RichI set the ECU at 50 with a 4 stroke plug in the turbine and it never failed. Don't think It will last long but ya never know. Thanks for all your help guys on this bird down through the weeks. Bill you have a dream of a jet. I would Rececommend her to anyone. Now-lets go down stairs and clear the table for a Turbinator build. Take care all.

Sounds GREAT!! Glad someone is getting to fly! It has been VERY cold and the wind is around 30 to 50mph. IT SUCKS!!! Maybe next week end.

oooH believe me Gents, I fought the elements today to fly. After a day like yesterday trying to get the plug Prob. out of the way, I was very determined to make a showing today. I have to admit, that was one cold looking photo there Kevin. We had a morning like that here last week. Gerry, 50 MPH winds is no good for nothing but staying inside and building one!!! Ha. Ha. Later guys it's time to fold back the sheets on this coast.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I purchased a shockjet about two weeks ago and just started looking at it. I have a few questions that I hope someone can answer.
First in the box was a plywood triangular object it looks like it could be a brace or something.
Second has anyone had trouble with gluing the carbon rods to the end cups to make push rods for the elevator and rudder? Would it be better to use a 440 rod?
Thanks
Glenn

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The triangle is for the UAT tank. I used JB weld on the links. I also used pro-links on the rest. If you need more help let me know.

Glenn

Go back to TBM and print off the photos that they have showing how they assembled it-that's what I did. My outcome wasn't exactly, but close enough.

Like Gerry, I used JB Weld on mine rods also.

Gerry and Jed helped me out with mine, they and I will help you with yours if you wish.

Gerry, I had 3 flights this morning - a bunch of fun, but I will need to upgrade my tank to yours - this five minute crap is just that: crap. Also, as soon as I use the rest of my fuel, I will use only the 2.5% or 8oz of oil to the fuel like called for by Artes. My Bee has sooooooo much freakin' lag it ain't funny. It should go from idle to 180K in a second-correct? It takes mine at least 4 to 7 seconds. I think since I'm using 5% or 16oz of oil with the fuel, it's too thick over the bearings and causing it to spool up slowly. What do you think? I will know for sure once I mix a new batch.

Have you heard from Jed?

Mr. DJ:

Not sure where you are getting your information or rather who is feeding it to you, but to be clear, the Jet Central jf50 Super Bee responds to throttle stick averaging 4 seconds depending on installation and set up being correct. Wx affects turbine performance as well. NEVER has it or will it respond in ONE second. The throttle is linear and every movement of the stick in normal TO or flight is just that. SLAM the stick and the ECU must digest data from all operating components and the turbine itself prior to advancing to WOT.

Again, not sure where you are getting your information, but oil content of 5% does not slow down turbine response. It can however cause sticky bearings (first start after sitting unused) and possibly effect atomization of fuel through the injectors. For best performance, please stay with 2.5% oil ratio in your fuel mix.

Hope this clears things up !

Happy Holidays and the very best New Year to you and all. . .

Thanks Eric for the help ! Do you know how much money you would make if your turbines were that fast???? Gerry

Hearing this from you clears up all the crap I've read...and I will be running the 2.5% ASAP...

Thanks for the well wishes and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well...

Gerry

Your tank setup. I know you cut two inches or so off the board in order to fit the longer tank. My question to you is if I do not relocate my Bee, will the tank still fit?

I know you modified the location of your turbine, so the starter isn't where mine is: Bee (unmodified location).

Thanks...

gjhinshaw 12-22-2008 08:07 PM

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Yes, It will fit. You may have to cut a little more, BUT it is well worth it! My turbine is relocared due to fit only. I can send pictures if you want. Gerry

ooooH well,

Bad day at the field. Let me shock jet get way to far out, way to fast and lost orientation. Ha. Didn't hurt the engine or any of the controls save a nipple on the fuel Solenoid. The only thing it did was wipe out the nose. I could rebuild it but-too many Projects now. I hope Bill at TBM can fix me up with just a Fuselage. I knew it could happen was just hoping it would wait a little longer. Ha. Hope you all had a Happy New Year.

five flights today, and five on the new year, was cold and high fog today. still flying great. So Gerry, how do you become a TBM sponsored pilot? maybe they need a west coast rep? I see the new DV8R coming soon.
