RE: Missing Skymaster F-18 thread?
ORIGINAL: ravill Trying to be objective here.... What would be the difference if Kmarks wanted to buy two F-18F's in a month? Would he be "right" in asking for a discount for buying 2 in such a short time? Would he be "right" in asking for the second one to be free? I don't think I'd give a guy a "buy one get one free" deal. I would even think he'd be a little off, by asking for such a deal. Is Kmarks the same guy that piloted a jet into the pilot stands @ florida jets? Ron, I feel your emense pain with your bandit. The EXACT thing happened to me with my first jet. The difference being that I already knew how to fly airplanes and I would NOT have done what my CD did to my jet. But being the FNG and not knowing if a fast jet reacted differently I thought the changes made sense (although I set the darn thing up EXACTLY like the manufacture suggested). I was flying my next jet much better than my CD had ever flown a jet. I won't mention his name because I think he learned his lesson seeing me eat COMPLETELY the $7,000 dollar loss with a shrug of my shoulders and with a determination to not fail. He should certainly never offer to help ANYBODY again, even though he is a nice enough guy. I won't let him forget it though...;) I've seen Ron fly and he does just fine. We all have good, and bad, flying days. It just so happens that some people have mostly bad flying days. Apparently Kmarks and "my" CD just happen to only have bad flying days. HERE IS THE BRO CODE OF HONOR: 1: If you make a change on someone's airplane because, in your opinion, the owner did not set it up right and the airplane fails because of your change, YOU, the changee, must pony up some cash. At least the cost of the radio. 2: The changes you are making must be thoroughly explained to the owner and the owner should understand the rational behind your change. If the owner does not understand, then the airplane should NOT be flown. If it has flown successfully before, then the changes should NOT be made. My VERDICT: Kmarks, if you indeed do the changes to the bandit, because you didn't like "the feel" of the radio and it was flying just fine before, yup you owe him a bandit. AND it still sounds like you dumb thumbed the Hornet. Don't feel too bad though, we all do that. If you are dumbthumbing alot of jets (more than 2-3 a year), you should not be helping anyone but yourself. And you should be probably be helping your self in a Hanger 9 Piper Cub. Raf |

RE: Missing Skymaster F-18 thread?
Raffi, very good post. I would like to ad one more thing to the Bro Code.
1) If you ask me to fly your plane to either test fly, trim, help you, show your girlfriend how cool that expensive toy is (because you cant), ect.... I am not responsible for any damage that happens to it. 2)If I ask you to fly your plane for any reason, then I am responsible for ANYTHING that happens. I don't care if the nose gear collapses on taxi out and scratches up the nose it is still my problem. If your plane has an air leak and the gear don't come down...still my problem. If your girlfriend comes out and rubs up against me while I'm flying your plane, asks me to do something "really hot" and I crash...its all on me. I've seen so many people go out and borrow other peoples jets, scratch them up, look to the owner and say "Hey I think you have an air leak". I pestered Ron like crazy about his Ultra Bandit. He finally said "Ok, Fine....just go fly it". I promptly chicken'd out because I knew I could not afford to replace it, or even pay for the paint. Of course peer pressure and Ron calling me the "P" word changed my mind and I flew it anyway, but still I knew what I was risking. In the case of Kevin changing the radio out and Ron being the new guy and trusting him, not to mention PAYING HIM! I totally feel that Kevin owes Ron a brand new Bandit, not to mention the Titan. Or does Kevin still think he deserves that because he did spend time with Ron and helped him....even though the reason Ron paid Kevin to help was so that he could learn how to fly WITHOUT losing his planes? I see another airplane next to Kevins F-18 carcass, is that a Rafale? What other planes does Kevin have that he can turn over to you for payment? This is something completely different and even more slimy and horrible then trying to get a free plane from a manufacturer, he deliberately took your money for services that he knew he could not do, destroyed your property, and took more of your money???? Add that to pulling the wool over Anton's eyes, and I bet Kevin Marks moves to Atlantis.....at least that will be the only place he can show his face. |
RE: Missing Skymaster F-18 thread?
