RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!

Jeez, Half the crap I pull apart is just to see what is inside  I'm not sure I would have posted pictures and rubbed it in the faces of those who made it what I found, especially something benign. But one time I did see the back side of a compressor wheel that had been severely hacked in order to balance it. I'm not an engineer, so I can't say as to whether or not it would have failed, but had that been my engine and that had been done to my compressor, I would not stand near it when it was running.

I'm not sure the backside of the compressor wheel is "supposed to be seen".

Anyway.......

The thing that gets me most is why you would try to besmirch JetCat USA on this forum rather than just call them and see what the real answer is. If the keyboard is your forte' then e-mail them.
And you took it apart Why??
Tim.
thankfully it is only a small minority that will rush to their computer and broadcast a problem rather than picking up the phone and dealing with it behind the scenes in the proper manner. The latter invariably will produce better results. One exception would be if there is a safety issue that all should know about asap.

OH MY GAWD, Y'ALL !!!

Give the man a break. My previous ribbing aside, he took it apart cus he owned it, was curious, or WHATEVER !! Like the rest of you with enough mechanical fortitude to safely build and fly a 40lb 200 mph jet have NEVER taken something apart just to do it ???? WHO CARES WHY !! IT DOESN'T MATTER and is completely beside the point.

While I have faith in JetCat, I completely agree that a plastic screw jammed in the case LOOKS, at best, suspect and out of place.

What does besmirch mean? Is that a technical question I need to know before starting my JetCat?
How come I dont have screws in my ECUs? I want one too so I can start a thread on here. If you find a screw in your ECU or turbine I say just leave it alone and fly it til the radio fluid leaks THEN you can send it to JetCat.

Hmm … so he is allowed to be curious about the screw, but no-one else is allowed to be curious about why he took the ECU apart ?

Sounds a tad hypocritical to me.

"Besmirch" is a technical term related to the proper execution of a Dirty Sanchez. Sean can fill in the exacting details!

And I always thought it was meant more for a rusty trombone or even a hot karl.

Re-read the thread more carefully before you laying the title of hypocrite at my feet. The overall tone and a couple of specific posts have implied that he was WRONG to open the case, as opposed to simply curious as to his reasons......... I thought that was obvious.

LOL !! Maybe you should re-read your post that I replied to, plus my reply.

I did not post a reply to some "overall tone", I replied specifically to the total contradiction that is wholly contained within YOUR post. That's why YOUR post was quoted. Surely that much was obvious.
