RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
I guess it has to be asked, why did you take it apart?
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
You had to ask.........[:@][:@]
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Probably would get a better answer on the Jetcat support forum...............
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Well, what else do I have to do[sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Really, what possible reason could there be to take it apart? I guess you could hear something loose would be about it, but from the pics it looks pretty snug.[X(]

RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Maybe its a thrust screw, crank it all the way in for max power[sm=idea.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
thats the ground avoidance detector gain setting screw.
remove it at your own risk<G>. |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Nice help there Seflyer! Ok I will crank it all the way down dude! Like I said man, I was connecting all the wires and happen to see the screw in there. Just looked like it DID NOT fit in there guy! MOD. please close this thread ...
Thanks Mongo! |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
We're just giving you a bad time, A quick call to Bob Wilcox would probably shed some light on the situation? who knows Kevin
Are you going to Fresno jets? |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
No, he is not going, no jets with plastic screws allowed. :D:D
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Geeez. I can't believe you guys would mess with Greenacre like that. Very childish and most definitely uncool.
Greenacre, don't let those guys get to you or lead U astray, man! Ever wonder why your engine runs so well for extended periods without adjusting the valves or points? It's because Bob Wilcox PERSONALLY adjusts the flux capacitor in each ECU before shipping, and the (BVM patent-pending) adjustment screw is then sealed away where customers can't mess with it. Messing with said screw risks bringing about intermittently failed mag-checks and carburetor icing. Honest. |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
I think this is like a Willy Wonka Bar Golden Ticket.
Get in touch with JetCat, you might have won a prize. Looks like a poor attempt at strain relief on the wires. On mine, the wires are doubled back and black heatshrink applied over the bundle. Maybe yours is an older version or has had some warranty/repair work done on it ? Could have been worse, could have been a metal screw ! |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
I guess they ran out of titanium screws.....bad qc
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
It's not every day someone gets a "FREE SCREW" and complains.
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
At least it wasn't a metal screw. But, I think we need to put this on the list of conspiracy theories such as the cough drop that was found in Bob C's jet. hummm....

RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Its all good! Kevin, probably not going to Fresno. Think I might be in Nashville, Tenn. teaching software[:o] Carlos, are you actually going to fly at an event this year??:)

That will be a negative, instead I will be joining the Tamjets gang in Ohio on that weekend. Another road trip for the gang, Yeah!!
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
It's there as a strain relief for the two leads to the receiver to keep the wires from tugging on the solder joints to the board. Easier and less messy than using silicon goop.

More from FLJ.
Mario, I think what Tam , Darcy and Todd are trying to tell you is to relax, read the instructions and have a cold one or two your jet will fly like a cat ( couger or tiger ) :D:D |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
:):D
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
As stated by Thud Driver, it is there as a strain relief. Is odd someone would open up one when nothing is wrong.
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
ORIGINAL: GreenAcre I was connecting all the wires and happen to see the screw in there. Just looked like it DID NOT fit in there guy! Thanks Mongo! |
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
Must be an older ECU. The new ones, the leads are removable. Seems like it was a quick fix until these new ones came out. FWI, I had one of those ECU's and the screw never budged.

RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
low speed needle valve adjustment, turn in two turns when using an Idle bar glow plug.:D
|
RE: Plastic screw in side of my jetcat ECU!!
The thing that gets me most is why you would try to besmirch JetCat USA on this forum rather than just call them and see what the real answer is. If the keyboard is your forte' then e-mail them.
And you took it apart Why?? Tim. |
