looking for Input
 

Hello all.. I am setting this poll up to see how you guys would feel about a new sport type jet.. its Based on a Full size Personal Jet called the Smart jet by Maverick Jets http://www.maverickjets.com/jets/smartjet.php

just wanted to get some feed back be for me and my partner really get to working on this project.. Yes it would be a Twin engine aircraft.. and i am sure that will turn most people off to it.. what do you think about EDF power ? how about a prop jet ? or Turbine only. or all of them?
other thing is well . we would like to know what you would look for in a Kit..
would you rather have a ARF Kit ? or a builders Kit?? Foam sheeted wing that's glassed ?? or a Fully build up Composite type wing?? a full scale Model ? or a Sport type ?


I added more to the Poll.. i have it set up so you can click on more then one of the options .. ( that's if it works right )

just trying to get more input and feed back..

my Main Goal is to try and keep Cost of the kit as low as we can.. IF we move forward with the project..

Man, I hope you sell a boatload of whatever you come up with.......I really do.

But, assuming you want honest feedback, I would vote "none of the above". However cool it is in real life, I just can't get excited about it as a model.

Again, I hope my opinion is overwhelmingly in the minority and that U have THE NEXT JET RAGE on your hands !

just wanted to see if there would be enough interest in a jet like this.. before I put allot of time and cash in on developing it.. I can't talk for every one . I am just sick of seeing the same Jets F100's and F18's and F'16 and F15's.F86's and all the Bobcats and copy's that are out over and over . They are all Nice Models don't get me wrong. not trying to knock any of them ... just looking at trying to offer something different..

FWIW, I think the overall lines are really. really cool. It is too obscure (?) as a scale jet to get pumped enough to buy two engines or even two EDFs for. But it might be fun if re-worked as an original single engine "canopied" plane as opposed to a multi-engined "cabin" jet ? Of course, it seems you already have the current molds on hand!

Having personally seen the display model shown above during fabrication, I can say its configuration is poor for model turbine power. Might be fine on EDF but a bit boring IMHO.
Nice lines but not "sexy" in a model....

there are no molds for this as of yet.. the model in the pic is of a Display model from Maverick Jets.. they sent it to us to see if we wanted to try and turn it in to a flying RC Model. Its just a display model .. would take allot of time to make it in to a flying model...

i would rather do one of there Single engine Solo jet.. if i can get the OK from Maverick jets and seeing that the smart jet and solo have all most the same lines.. maybe i can rework it in to the solo jet.. for single engine..

Personally, i like the Solo jet more than the smart jet. it looks more "sporty". And i've already got one big twin turbine project, i dont need a second one.

I like T45WingNut's offer, it would be a much simpler to design and build. I have never worked with turbins, but it looks like a blast. The closest thing I have done to that beauty is a 90% finish design of a Turboproped Pilatus PC-9M. If you build either I would stay as close to scale as possible and not have a nose pulling version. I would think people that want jet looking planes they should be jet driven.

Thanks all.. keep the input coming .. the more feed back i get the more it will help..

I may see if Maverick Jets will let us do a model of each Jet .. The Solo and the Smart jet.. right now we have the OK to do the smart jet only.. but you never know they might let us do both.. all i can do is ask.

my main goal is to put out a good quality kit and a affordable price..

the Eclipse 400 would be nice to do.. But I don't have permission from Eclipse.. to do one..
we have permission from Maverick Jets to do the smart jet... and i am going to ask them about the Solo..

Eclipse I have not talked to them yet.. never know they might go for letting us do one..

Cirrus Design Corporation has one all so that might make a nice Model all so..

Or how about the Piper Jet.. ???

I kinda like the looks of the smartjet - the twin version. I don't think I'd want to build something too big for this project though - maybe for 2 p-60s?. And I'd be more interested in a "builder's kit". So I can make changes. [8D]

I also like the model Rich posted above, with the single inlet on top.

If we do anything with the Smart jet .. it will be a " builder's kit" A glass Fuse and engine pods with Foam wing to start out.. and if it takes off then we may go in to a ARF type kit.with a Built up type wing.. But now First things First.. get one or two prototypes built , get them flying and see how it gos from there.. my main goal of the poll was to get some feed back to see if the smart jet worth putting the time in to making a kit.. maybe I can get one ready for next years Mississippi afterburner at John Bell Williams airport . will depend on other work I have going on if i get the time ..

we have some other projects we are looking in to all so at this time. with some other Aircraft MFG's . not all of them are jets... but other types of aircraft..

we have a few projects we are looking into.. one is the smart jet.. then i am going to look at making changes to the smart jet ( use the lines ) and try and do the solo single engine jet or just turn it in to a single engine sport jet....
others Ideas we are looking in to are . a Single engine jet with a swing wing( not a F14 or F111) . all so looking at a F106. but i would like to get away from all Fighter jets. and do some of the Civ jets . like the smart jet, or Eclipse 400.. maybe a updated large BD10.

for now i am going to start working on the Twin Smart jet.. and then move in to some of the others as we go.. ( all so have a scale sail plane in the works. )

as things move along i will start a post on them and post updates as we go threw the process..
