Aerobatic KingCat

David:

I agree. Absolutely no problem with IMAA based on KingCat wingspan or length + span. My buddy Dave and I have been going to Big Birds and IMAA events since we started flying turbines, at their request.

My question was whether we will ever be able to compete in IMAC, since sections 3.1 and 4.1 of the IMAC Rule book seem to exclude non-scale tubines with no exceptions.

Just wondering if anyone had ever tried competing with one with a waiver. Until the advent of planes like the Boomerang and King Cat, it was unrealistic for a nice aerobatic bird like the Bandit to stay in the box. Way to fast, and loses too much altitude with spins. But now we are getting planes that definitely will be competive in the box.

Just another way of bringing turbines into the mainstream, rather than being orphaned out in right field like we are now.

No restictions in flying a turbine in pattern. Of course you have to keep it under the 11.02 pound weight limit. But that is without fuel! vbg

So to fly it in IMAC it needs to be a scale rendition of some type of civilian aircraft, right?

If so, it is begining to like more and more like an Extra 330S with a little stretching here and there. <vbg>

Actually, it's a modified Kadet. Should fit right in at the Tailwinds, right John? vbg

You are absolutely correct Tony!!!

I am still on the floor holding my side. God, could you even imagine the Kadet Squadron with a couple of these. Now that would definitely make you hide under the car when they fired them up. <vvbg>

Access to Kingcat info

I was gonna show the Kingcat pics to a friend, but for the last 3 days I have been unable to access the BVM website - is it down, or am I the only one that's unable to access it ?

Thanks for checking, Jason. I would say it was my boss trying to stop me looking at jets instead of working... but the same issue happens at home too. Maybe my wife asked BV to block my access to their site so that I don't keep sending them money.

Hi,

There've been a few posts from a few different people asking about where the KingCat is made. I've heard Asia, Eastern Europe and Florida. What's the scoop? I'm pretty sure it's not the USA, because if it was, someone would have proudly proclaimed it by now. I'm just curious, so can someone enlighten?

Also just curious.... but why is this such a big deal to you that you keep asking ?

Gordon,

I'm not sure why you asked that, but something doesn't have to be a 'big deal' for someone to repeat an unanswered question. I guess I could ask you why you want to know why I want to know, but what does it matter? With all due respect, I was looking for an answer to a specific question. Do you have some information to give, or are you just gonna pick apart my question?

If anyone wants to know where they're made.. simply pick up the phone, call BV and ask. If he wants people to know that kind of information he'll tell you, if he doesn't.. he won't.

I'm not sure knowing where they're being made matters all that much..

Shawn, I'm sure people are raising an eye simply because you're involved with Yellow Aircraft and asking a few times about where another manufacturer's product is being built. Just my $0.02.

Can't see anywhere where I picked your question apart.... just asked a simple one of my own. Is it okay by you that I'm allowed to ask questions too ?

Gordon,

Of course you know I think it's okay that you ask questions of your own, I just didn't like thinking I had to give a breakdown in order to ask a question.

Doug,

Not that I mind calling BV, but why should I have to? This Q/A resource is free. Anyway, what's Y/A have to do with my question? Thanks for the 'heads-up' on raised eyes, but I'm not real concerned about that. It seems awful silly that anyone's eye can be raised by such a question. No cloak-n-dagger crap, just an answer would be great if anyone has one.....

Made in ???

Hey Shaun,

I'm with you. I don't understand the secrecy behind where it's being made. That's raising more eyebrows than your question is.

King Cat Skunk Works

The KingCat is made in the high-tech prepeg factory of DiamondStar Models, under expert leadership of Tracy Jenson, the Composite king. The fuselages are being laid up right next to the famous GlassCat and the F-101 Voodoo.

Thanks Goin' West. That's the rumor I had heard.

I'd also like to thank jchris for all of your insight into this thread. I'll try to do the same for you some day.
