This has all been disgussed all before and is where I got my information!

BUT when you are an AMA member and a waver holder you must abide by ALL AMA's rules at all times! You cannot turn off your coverage at will. AMA's rules are to protect itself in reguards to financial liability. What YOU do effects AMA's bottom line. You are insurred anytime, anywhere you fly be it an AMA field or not. So therefor you must abide by their rules at an AMA field or NOT. Now about the only thing they CAN DO IF you violate "their rules" is to pull your waver AND not allow you to fly a jet at an AMA field ever again. I am not sure who you are I do not believe we have met {live in the same town}

BUT do you hold an AMA waver If not this is a MOOT POINT !!!

Your car insurance will state that you are not covered for racing or competitive rallies.
But you can go to a private race track and belt round (uninsured) if you want. Or drive cars owned by the track, on their insurance.
And your insuance company is not going to freak out and cancel your policy. You can still drive home.
I would expect the AMA insurance to work the same, unless it is run by some weird control-freaks.

Ok I will bite one more time. How long is the fine print in your auto policy and where is the fine print in the AMA's rules. You are compairing apples to oranges. WE are not flying cars,WE are not covered by an auto policy. WE are members of a private orgination that is self insured that has a set of safety rules that they ask we all abide by in order to continue to fly at their controled flying sites. And if we cannot do that then they remove our privilage to fly there.

End of story

Jerry I would have agreed until Frank Tiano managed to privately insure his big plane event (beyond AMA experimental, I am sure that Concord would have been MORE than welcome).

This event features AMA members flying side by side, some covered by AMA, some not, all under sanction of the AMA (by "sanction" I mean that the AMA agreed with Frank to the split insurance liability ).

Have had people try to explain it to me but I am not the brightest bulb in the box.

then another AMA oddity is OEM manufactures flying in events in which AMA would not cover this and the business must have own liability, or something to that effect?

Made me always wonder if Uncle BOB or Dubb Jett flying at AMA Nationals could rely on their AMA? as they said once an OEM always an OEM.

Holy Mackeral! The point I am trying to make is this: should I go to any field that requires AMA, that is fine and I will more than abide by all of those rules and requisites, absolutely no problem, and it doesn't matter what is involved. However, should I have my own field, then I can do what I want, regardless of any one or any entity. It is my property, my domain, and my rules. Now, should I be anywhere flying anything that is whithin AMA rules, then I have to abide by that should I have a situation where I would have to make some claim under the AMA rules. If I am flying withing these rules and something happens, my PERSONAL insurance will be first in line for a claim, then AMA second, as you can read in the AMA rules for coverage. I am well aware of the fact that should I fly a 200 pound aircraft on my own property and something happens, AMA nor any other entity has any responsibility for any casualty loss other than my own personal coverage. It is not a matter of not following rules, it is a matter following rules where it applies. So relax, if you come to my FBO and I destroy your aircraft, my insurance will pay for it 100%. If you destroy my aircraft and you are AMA and within those rules, then your personal insurance will cover me, and if not, then AMA. Have fun, enjoy the new year!
