Jr High Voltage Servos

1 Attachment(s)
Is anyone using them yet? If they got them down to $89 it might be worth it. Its cool to be able to hook these directly up to high volt lipos though.

The new 8711 servos will not be available until mid Feb. Don't hold your breath for them to be $89.00. Joe C!!

Not a chance at $89.99. I would say something more like $149.99 will be rock bottom, but we'll see.

I think you will see some deals on them Joe but I think you're right on for Horizon at least.

Even at $150 I couldn't see the value.

I doubt you will ever see them for less then 50% of retail. The hidden deal will probably be $169.99 buying in quantity.

Wouldn't you still have to regulate the receiver down to at least 6 volts???

I think there will be a great demand for these servos, I am sure they will be designed to work with any chemistry of a Li cell (3.3 to 3.7 nominal, maybe over 4.2 off charge).

The issue is what about the other servos and devices? This will just add more complexity, as it you really want the 480 ounce inches you will want the full battery rail. So what, 2 rails?

I think ACT has been selling 7.2 volts servos for awhile, there is a market for them I think

They made sense for the people who needs to gang together 3 or 4 expensive servos on a flying surface.. but not for much else.

There are a few solutions to power these servos with older type ones. One is for the mfg's to upgrade some of their power boxes to have HV going to the main channels while lower voltage going to other servo channels. Or using seperate regulators to regulate the power going to the older servos and leave raw voltage going to the HV servos.

I think that these HV servos are a great idea and they do have a market out there. I also think that the radio companies have missed a great oppertunity to change the sevo plugs to a higher current carrying ones (to achieve the most/best efficient use of the power available)[>:]
