Scroll Saw
 

I remember there used to be a Dremel or Delta scroll saw that came with a table that had guides to make perfect angled and straight cuts. I've looked everywhere and can't find an equivalent product. Closest I've seen is Micromark's Microlux Scroll Saw.

Anoboby knows of another brand? Also, how do you make stright cuts without the guides?

I think the biggest deal in making straight cuts is to have a relatively new and sharp blade, so it won't walk to the sides. That, and don't push to hard - let the blade do the cutting. After that, you can clean up the cut by block sanding or a belt sander, but it shouldn't take much. I have an old Sears scroll saw without a guide. [8D]

The Ryobi that I bought at lowes or HD had a guide with it.

I had a delta scroll saw with the guides on a squar table. I sold it when I bought my band saw. I think Delta discontinued them a while back........
Unless your cutting tight circles and frames i'd go with a band saw. They cut really good with the guide.

Actually I do have a band saw with guides, but it is difficult to use with small parts.
I'm cutting these (BVM BARF MLG Frames):
1. CATIA V5 DWG of scanned parts
2. Scan Photo of broken parts

oh yeah, you would need a scroll saw for that.

Dude, send me the file to your drawin and i'll have a buddy of mine cut it on his CNC router. It would take about 30 minutes per part to do.

What material are you going to use. He's got bits to cut anything except carbon fiber.

Forgot to mention, you can make clean straight cuts on a scroll saw that does not have guides by simply making your own guide.
I take a piece of hard block or a metal yard stick and clamp it to the scroll saw. You'd have to make a device or jig to make sure the front and back are even to your guide and the blade.
Then make a couple of practice passes and adjust as required. I've done it before and wont take long to figure it out.

Here is my Delta scroll saw that i use for all small cutting, it has a working round plate but no other attachments. I follow the the line as best as i can or put a aluminum "L" angle held with 2 "C" clamps to do the straight cutting if high rate of precision is needed.
I bought it used from a private sale for like $50 bucks about 2 years ago.

send me the dwg file and the material you want it cut out of and how many. They will cost you .50 a piece including shipping and be done with it!
