Why does it always happen to the good ones?
Maybe that's because nearly all of your models are incredible, Ali.

Even for me this weekend was very sad.
This is all that's left of my baby. [:@]
Booster 130 is already on the way to the service, I have been looking for a replacement for my new baby.

Ali,

Sorry for the loss... How about posting pics of the hunter before she died? Would like to see how beautiful she looked.

Cheers

What type of camera was taking the shots? My canon 400 certainly couldnt shoot as many shots as quickly as that.

RE: Why does it always happen to the good ones??

My new Cannon 50 certainly will and its very economical on battery power. Grat camara.

Now what can we all learn from this crash possibly to prevent a recurrence. ? Plenty of charge in the dual batteries !!

C'mon Ali waht happened ?

Regards, David Gladwin.

Sorry to see this Ali. I did a loud shout here. :(

What was the cause!?

Reason for the crash.... I pulled instead of pushed [:@]
Sorry no idea on the camera spec. I will try and direct Barry the photographer on here to see if he can help.
Pjer. Sorry for your loss. Good on you for jumping straight back on and good luck with your new project. Thanks again guys for the words and emails of sympathy and kind words. I just stripped the remains today and threw away what's left. Turbine goes back to Cat today ( Fingers crossed )

Shame to see a model as good as this go down so hard. 3 pages later and the cause is "pulled instead of pushed" . . . . . Not like you to do that. Any video of the flight ?

Al, I'm glad you published the reason, that'll do all of us a lot of good to know that we are all human, thanks, it makes me personally feel a lot better to know that even you can make mistakes, well done mate.
Remember, you told me to get straight back on the wagon, I did and it's the best thing I ever did, had a lot of fun since.
That's why it's a mans hobby, not a boy's.

I believe it. Al is a great stick I saw him at Cal Jets personaly, however even the great ones have mis Q's from time to time. What is really impressive is the guts it took to admit it. Respect for Al just went up big for me It takes a real stand up guy to admit mear mortal mistakes. Thanks Al for the honesty. Now let me wipe the tears out of your eyes so you can get working on my new hunter. :D

Sorry to disappoint guys. ( But I love you anyway Ron :D )
Oh and Dunc.. I have been losing my hair since I was 19 so no surprises there mate. Definetly no just for men here, I might give the back to black silicone spray a try. it seems to work a treat for you ;)
No idea right now what happened to be honest. I have narrowed it down to the following.

1) Battery died.... 6 volt 3300 mah Nimh that had been cycled 4 or 5 times from new. Yes I am sad to say there was only one rx battery installed in this model. I have given the going back to basics approach a try recently. One battery and no power boxes and such and it seemed to be working quite well ( Up until last Saturday anyway ) With the advent of Spektrum/ 2.4 I have never had so much trouble free flying and I guess I got complacent...
I have checked the battery back at the workshop ( This did involve pushing one cell that had separated in the crash) And this read 6.5 volts

2) Rx Died. JR 12 ch Rx with two satellites both extended. One to the ejection seat area of the cockpit, and the other to the lower side of the middle fuselage. Yes I was only using one Rx :( Same reasons as above really.
I have not had a chance to look into that

I really cant see any other reason. The model was flying at about 3/4 throttle so not overly fast. I was just entering a slow roll so not huge load on servos or airframe, and noting fluttered or departed from the airframe.

Thats about it so far.
Analyze away.

Regards Al

Man ,

and here I was sticking up for you and have to find out I was duped! Oh well I guess the moral or the story is to use some redundent systems and you will have a better chance at saving your model. No matter what the cause (unless you pull insted of push):D

Do some people use more than one receiver (aside from the satellite's)?? How would you even wire that up on a turbine?

Chad,

If you use a power box royal it has a 2 reciver hook up. Wayne just installed one in my air world mig 21 2 futaba 14 channel recievers 2 batteries pretty much 2 of everything.

what did the ECU reported?
last shutdown ? or is that vaporised?

as for your reciever setup , i used the same setup on most our models (ar9000)
the 12X works fine with also 2 connected (you still have 3)
was the receiver a JR 12 channel?
we did have a dead receiver 2 weeks ago on our holiday.
on the PCB are 2 diodes that catch powerspikes , 1 was blown off for now apparent reason.
it leaves the power on the system,(including ECU) but it cuts the feed to the processor , and starts blinking. basicly DEAD (no signal to servo , surfaces will move by hand , no "hold" possible)
but it would leave the power on the jetcat and show a signal faillure.
if your last shutdown is a power failure then all power was cut , but can also come due to the crash.
but then interesting is at what rpm that was...
i mean if you had a failsafe your gear would have come also out right?
i tested a few things with Carsten on this , but we culd not figure out the faiilure.
i would be gratefull if you snapped a pic of your receivers guts...

So you could plug in two spektrum receivers to it and they would both bind to the radio at the same time?
