Is there a difference in airline quick dis/connectors?
Are some airline quick- dis/connectors better than others? I see the robarts and those other less expensive plastic ones that todd seels, then there are the netal connectors. I'm just curious if any of these are better than any others.
Thanks for the input. Chad |

My apologies, I meant quick disconnects, not the T's or 4 ways.

Been using the Robart disconnects for years. Never had a problem.

personally, i like the metal airpower ones.. i've used over 100 of them and never had one leak. I 'used' to be big on the robart ones, but after getting 3 new bags and all of them leaking and having to replace the o-rings on them and then them still leak, i gave up on them.

I've used the SMC series extensively, and never had a problem with them leaking. http://www.colder.com/Products/Plast...x?ProductId=20
I buy them in bulk - approx $110 for 50 of each of SMF01 and SMM01 SMFD01 is a variation that has a check valve in the female coupling, costs a few bucks each. You can also get them with different size barbs for larger airline, different plastic, etc. I dont doubt that some people have had the o-rings leak for whatever reasons, but the only time I've personally seen one leak was when the owner let grit get inside the connectors, and the grit scratched the crap out of the o-ring. I like the robart twist lock type but recently i got some airpower metal type and they work excellent and are less bulky than the Robarts. Also the airpower connectors are painted colors for easy matchup.

Robart's better D*mn well work properly, I have made them a lynch-pin component in my pneumatic system on my MB339.....

I've used Airpower, Luer Locks and Snap Locks (like the SMC's only from mcmaster.com) and they all work fine. It's only a matter of cost, size and convenience. Snap Locks are the easiest but the biggest. Airpower are the smallest but sometines are a pain if space is cramped. I also use larger Snap Locks for fuel connections on my jug and connections to the airplane fuel system. The ones with the check valve are great for the fueling line on the UAT.
