It has finally got to my workshop! after what was turning into a logistical nightmare! it really is quite big and bulky have attached a pic of it next to my Mach 1 and Bobcat. Martin and i spent til the early hours discussing the finer points of the build along with consuming chinese takeaway and inspiring fluids such as Spitfire and Kopparberg. Going to have a nose access hatch for avionics equipment, as it is being fitted with a 160 it is going to need as much up the front as possible, have spent much of the morning working out to scale the size and shape of the nose hatch on the full size and there was much discussion on the actuating personnel door but i think we have a way ahead on that one, going to dispose of the live hinging on the rudder and do my thing to make it much neater looking. Have a few pics including one of Martin checking out the internal structure!

Looks like an ideal nose for a chop off and keel structure internally, just a sugestion.

We wanted to keep it a scale panel, it is not going to be a superscale model but i am wanting to make a decent job of it.

Mach 1? Don't you mean your Alan Brown designed (and moulded) Tazor!

Yes they do. Graupner said the fuselage was not to a standard that would allow the stickers to be applied without painting. I think it should be painted anyway, so hopefully they will not be an issue.

Mach 1/Tazor . . . same model, Alan Brown did a great job! was very pleased with the mouldings, this will be progressing quietly in the background while working on the Epic.

The surface imperfections are all minor, would not want to slap stickers on a gel coated fuselage even if it came like that as it is such nice model and i think it would look a bit to much like a kids toy with just stickers, this way i get to remove all the join lines etc and prep it to the standard i want before painting.

Dave,
CD will come in very handy and no doubt prevent some head scratching, which is just aswell cos i cannot afford to lose the hair! the photo position was quite deliberate and i had hoped he would not notice, he realised just before i took the photo, he did not seem to mind . . . . i think he knows the truth! :D

This model would work well being reduced in scale from this size (2.8 metres), by 30% giving wing span of around 74" (1.9metres in new money), still with enough room to fit the kitchen sink in the fuzz! Very pleasing to eye, it has started to grow on me!

I might use one of the [link=http://www.der-schweighofer.at/artikel/80397/modellsport?query=pneumatic]Multiple Pneumatic Couplers[/link] that was reviewed in Jet Power 2009#5; has any one has any experiences with using these?

I now have the PowerBox Royal and the original sticker set that came with the model, all that is now needed are the retracts, legs & wheels, air valves, air tanks and fuel tank.

I am waiting for the retracts to be made and delivered (but they are only a matter of weeks away); I will buy the rest of the air system when I have the retracts.

I need to make a descision on the fuel tank; the front runner at the moment is the AIRWORLD Modelbau Hawk Tank at 4.6 litres.

Martin,

Its the same tank in my Hunter and its not mounted in the model at the moment, so if you need any dimensions that let me know and I will measure it for you.

Geoff.

With the bulk of the fuselage . . . . i think we should just go straight for the Orbit fuel station! :D

Here are a few more pictures; one showing where the nose hatch will be and some of the radio gear.

I have an unused AW Hawk tank going for a good price if you're interested. Think they're £120 new.

£70??

RE: Epic Victory Build

I have been reading the post on the Epic Victory and thought it might make sense to introduce myself. I am the designer and founder of the Epic aircraft company and am an avid RC guy. We developed the model for use as a spin test model for our certification program and decided to see if anyone might be interested in a RC model of our single engined jet. We built a few prototypes for Graupner at his request and have decided to develop the plane to its fullest potential. It will take a little time to do this to the level that I want. This plane is exact scale because it was CnC'd from our full size design.

Since we built the prototypes we have installed joggles for the engine and the front luggage cover. All bulkheads and engine mounts are installed. All wing and stab servo boxes plus the landing gear mounts are complete and installed. We are developing a scale door handle that people seem to want, It is from the full scale design. We are just completing our first production run of planes now for Graupner and the US market. We will be offering white(standard) painted in the mold and painted versions on special request. In Europe please contact Graupner for the Victory. In the USA please contact me directly. I am working with some modelers now to make sure we deliver the highest quality kit on the market at a fair price. If anyone has some suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me. My Phone number is 541 728-4116 or at this site it seems to be a great venue for the RC community. These aircraft are made in Bend Oregon not overseas so I can control the quality. If anyone is not happy with our production quality contact me and I WILL correct the problem.

Great flying everyone,

Rick<br type="_moz" />

Hi Rick,

I am interested in details of the scale door handle that you mentioned; can you post some pictures please?

Can you also send me some close up pictures of the font luggage bay and the passenger door opening?

Regarding the fill size aircraft, I can only find two registrations N370EJ and N975AR (the blue one and the blood red one). Are there other registrations that I can look for or are the other aircraft unregistered at yet?

RE: Epic Victory Build

I will try to post a picture of the door handle and the front luggage cover. You are right we have only built two jets but have 33 Epic turboprops flying. I will try to post complete pictures of the full production kit as delivered soon. Graupner developed the windows and the wood package, they did a great job. The door opening is scribed on the fuse and is split in half for a two part door in the real plane.

I believe that you are building one of our first kits so if you have specific questions please contact me off line and I will answer your questions as best I can. I will try to post some scale photos of the full size plane soon on this site. I am thinking of making a CD of scale pictures to go in each kit, what do you think?

Regards,

Rick

Something I will need to know fairly early on is the recommended surface deflections.

I want the servos to be installed so they are close to 100% movement at the recommended surface deflections.

I will also need to know the C of G, but no rush on that.
