Planes Plus new Jet
Do you have any more info on this plane, such as price, dimensions of both planes, amount of prefabrication, all composite or sheeted flying surfaces, etc...etc??? :D I looked but could not find this plane on the Planes Plus web site. Do you have any more pics???
Thanks, Kevin |
It's just

Tango
Since Mike has given you a preview, I will say that anyone needing immediate information on this wonderful aircraft can call 630 -768-2878 and i will tell you all till we get the info on the web page. As to the comment on the BVM knockoff, sorry for the uninformed, but this plane was done before BVM got the idea from the 5 jet. Don
PS: how does ARF and $800 sound? |
Planes Plus new Jet
I really like BVM products....I've owned at least a dozen and a half of BV's planes. BUT-----enough already on the BVM BobCat clone comments!!! I've got an old RCJI mag (The first year of publication I believe) that plainly shows a twin boom, center pod cockpit, turbine powered sport jet from the EIGHTIES with one of the first experimental model turbines powering it!!! All of this "Who came out with the first twin boom design" crap is kinda childish---Don't ya think. For the mis-informed, I can tell ya it wasn't BV!!!!! (For those of you that demand proof, tomorrow I will go through my mags and provide the issue # and page!!!)

Wango tango
Hi Don does it come with the gear wheels and brakes for the price above? :) how big?
Mig Driver you should get your facts straight and please refrain from your negative product bashing Bvm didnt come up with the twin tail boom design:( nice try..... |
Planes Plus new Jet
The Hustler from JMP might be called a Bobcat knockoff, as it looks identical to a Bobcat, but bigger, much bigger. The Tango is only similar to a Bobcat in configuration, not outline.
The Bobcat itself is not an original configuration, nor is the 5-jet. Anyone remember an airplane called the DeHavilland Sea Vixen? Yeah.. just an airplane that's over 50 years old. It's a simple case of form following fuction. Get over it. |

Sea Vixen.
Well put dc. |
Tango
the plane is 67 span and length, 14 lbs with p80
comes with fixed gear and dubro wheels included robart, spring air retracts and wheels and brakes are options, will fly great on small motors, wren , ram 500, bee, p70, or 18lb ones are great. Coming soon will be a 80 inch plus span one for larger motors and us older guy eyes. Expect pricing to be very aggressive on the big one! Don |
Planes Plus new Jet
Hmm.. P-70 powered eh? Might be a great airplane for me to get familiar with the P-70 before it goes in the BVM F-86 :D

Hustler and Bobcat...Identical????

I don't think so.

Hustler is not just a bigger Bobcat

Don, looks like you've got a winner and I think you're going to sell them faster than you can get 'em.
|
Hey nice pic of the Bobcat!
Please don't drag me or my cat into this......
Some say all these planes look a like, some say they are very different. All that really matters is how they fly!!. Each plane will have it's following, whether it's because of quality, price, looks, peer pressure, etc. BUY WHAT YOU LIKE! Doug has it right about the P-70 combo. That looks great. Now quit fighting and go fly something this weekend. Good luck Don. Too bad we are out of room in the basement. Dustin |

Planes Plus new Jet
No one took me to task in this thread concerning pics of the other older twin boom sport jet designs, but I did receive a few Emails from some curious modelers. In RCJI issue #50 on page 47----The caption reads: "Gerry Jackman made and flew the world's first model gas turbine engine at the 1983 Abington Jet Meet in his purpose designed "Bar J" flying test bed." This model is twin boom but looks like a Five Jet.
The one that will really raise your eyebrows is the pic in RCJI issue #21 on page 51. The caption reads: "Wolfgang Mrotzek with his own design plane with a modified 40N thrust Kamps turbine" I hope this puts this cloning thing to bed! Don, Your plane looks real good and I wish you success. Can't wait to see the larger version!!! Kevin |
copies
Boy am I glad I scratch build the weird stuff so I don't have to argue which one looks like which one. the twin booms all look alike to me. it's just boring to see only those flying at the jet meets. yea yea I know it's for the guys that like to fly. :-) long live us scratch builders!

This one is from an unnamed UK kit that originally was powered with a JPX engine. This one has a PST J600 that hauls it around just great

I hope this puts this cloning thing to bed! Actually Kevin the cloning issue on BVM's website was when some individuals took a Bobcat kit, waxed it up and pulled molds from it. |
Planes Plus new Jet
Hi Don
Looks Great. When will it be ready for shipping. Is it going to be in the same color scheme as the picture. Thanks in advance. Jason |
cloning issue?
David,
I think what Kevin was referring to when speaking of cloning was in reference to migdrivers comments stating that the new planesplus airplane was a BVM knockoff. I think he was just trying to indicate that BVM was not the first person to design and fly a twin boom jet powered model to much the surprise of some of the jet community. Patrick. |
