FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Well... my Liberty-S is on the way to Europe.
All James mailed me was a glimpse in the box before they shipped it.. This is the first "S" FEJ has done in the "HPAT" color scheme. http://image2-6.rcuniverse.com/e1/ga.../lg-195016.jpg What i have so far are the settings suggested by Keith (aka Jetmodeller) C/G at 20mm not 30mm ((The [link=http://www.flyeaglejet.com/en/Liberty%20Instruction%20%20Manuals.html]MANUAL[/link] however is saying 300mm)) Ailerons 10mm each way Elevator 15mm each way Flaps 45mm total movement I would like to use this thread for sharing Liberty-S experiences. So for all you Liberty-S owners out there, lets share.. |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
SWEEEEEEEET! Keep us posted on how she does. Looks great.

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Yeah she does look good doesn't she?!
I am going to mount a Jets-Munt Merlin 90 Turbine. Should be plenty of blow for this bird. The HPAT color scheme has only been done on the Liberty-L .... till now http://www.flyeaglejet.com/Liberty-L/llrwb%20(6).JPG (THIS IS THE LIBERTY-L) I will keep you posted as soon as she arrives.. (maybe an unboxing on YouTube would be an idea) |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
hi cliff the c/g was at 20mm at wing root( the join BETWEEN INNER AND OUTER WING) 300mm is AT THE FUSEALARGE regards keith ps full review in latest R C J I.Keep engine well forward unless you are using heavy batteries.

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Measuring from the wing root does make it easier to ballance.
Thanks for clearing this with us Keith. I am subscribing to the R C J I magazine as we speak. My only hope is that i will still recieve issue 100 !! Very curious what you wrote for us Keith. Thanks, |

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Hey guys ,
This airplane looks Firebird-ish especially the air inlets etc. Anybody flown one yet , whats the performance like ? I know the new RCJI has reviewed the kit but the review didnt sound terribly exciting. Can it take a 120 ? Xantos |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Yes, she does have some Firebird resembleses..
http://www.flyeaglejet.com/Liberty/LIBERTY1%20(4).JPG The smaller liberty-S can hold up to 92mm Turbine diameter. The bigger Liberty-L certainly works with a 120 - 160 Turbine. I think Keith is the most experienced Liberty-S guy who can tell you more on how she flies. Like I said, i am waiting for mine to arrive. As soon as she's in, I will update this thread with my build and flight experiences on this jet. (with YouTube videos to support it) |

Actually, to see a Liberty and a Firebird side by side, they don't look as similar as one thinks.

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
The Liberty seems to be half Firebird and half Bandit....

Cliff
Do you have any idea what engine is in that plane in the video? Bob |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Hello Bob,
This particular Liberty-S is powered by a Wren Super Sport. A jets-Munt merlin 90 would also do the trick. Note the NACA ducts on the top and bottom, these ducts gave the Wren 10N of extra thrust. http://www.rc-network.de/forum/attac...5&d=1271688485 http://www.rc-network.de/forum/attac...6&d=1271688485 |

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
It had to do with a wheel being a little stuck in the wheel well and a small air leak in one of the hoses.
The problem is fixed and Bert van Didden will fly the Liberty again this upcoming week-end in Nederweert the netherlands. Appart from that, the gear and cilinders are fine. Let's keep it on-topic please? |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Cool vid and nice flight.
Behaves very well and very fast!!!! I like it! It took me 12 months to sort my air lines and cylinders for leaks. Now works perfect every time. Called teathing problems and is normal. Mav |

RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Hi guys
Iv been flying the liberty L for awhile now and it is realy a awesom jets,it is very smooth and has no bad habbits. It does take alot of set up to get flying 100%,the set up is very critical just like a good pattern plane. We had the South African jet masters a few weeks back whivh i won with the liberty, the only thing i would suggest is setting up a little crow brakeDue to the very little frontal drag she tends to come in a slightly hot. However i do fly at hight altitude and off a normal model field you cant take to much of a chance on landing, you need to get the speed right and get her on the numbers. Regards Greg |

Hi JET FX,
Will the Kingtech K80 fit in a Liberty S? I thought the the diameter was too big. BRG, Craig. |
RE: FEJ Liberty-S thread..
Without modding the airplane, a 92mm Turbine is the absolute maximum, you can fit.
A K-80 will eventually fit but you need to remove some wood of the turbine mount in the airframe. If you do not have an engine yet, a Jets-Munt Merlin 90 is the engine to go for. 95 Newton of power and only 90mm wide. |
