But keep it simple and at a attractive price level! In my opinion we just need the basic info, otherwise just connect the original GSU.
Could not agree more [sm=thumbs_up.gif]. The basic info is all I need when starting or shutting down the engine. Too much info makes a mess IMO. If I need more info or to program something I would just connect the GSU.
Great work!

Hi Guy's,
thanks for all the input so far, it's nice to get feedback [8D]

I have changed the screens a little, it is correct that there is a lot of info to display, but my feeling is that so long as it is in idle mode, it doesn't hurt that much ?!
Anyway, this is what I have come up with so far, I hope that Sandor can have one of the prototypes with him to Florida Jets, but it all depends on how fast the post is between Denmark and the Netherlands :D

PS: The GPS and airsensor screens are TBD, I need to connect the equipment to one of my planes and have a flight to see the actual data, and how it behaves...

I see 2 options for helping keep people happy if there are many screens to cycle through.

1) Allow user to configure which of the many screens they want to have displayed. Sandor's comments about the unit being programmable suggest this could be done.

2) Looks like you have a mini pushbutton on the unit, just like the LED IO board has. If so, maybe set it up that the user can just press this button to change from one screen to another - that way he can go through the screens as quickly or as slowly as he wants.

RE: Digitech Jetcat Information Screen Project!

I uploaded a video of the info display on youtube, it was dark,so the quality of the video stinks :D
Anyway, it gives you a feeling about the display. The "max pump" voltage screen that shows the "max pump voltage" of the last run and the one before and lowest battery voltage detected, is not implemented yet.
There is a funny "feature" of the ECU, whenever it is in "PreHeat1", it won't communicate for a couple of 100ths of a second, so you see a error message between PreHeat1 and PreHeat2 (will be fixed tomorrow), and there is a cosmetic error on the "fuel/minute", it has the decimal part with also, that has since been removed. ANother thing missing is the ounce conversion, right now it is only in milliliters, will also be selectable
Hopefully Sandor (Digitech) will get one of the prototypes from me in time, so he can bring it to Florida Jets
Again, sorry for the very low quality video, I will shoot another one tomorrow in daylight, but until them ;)
One small note, the reason for it stays so long in "LearnLo" state is that I forgot to put the throttle stick down to idle again after the starting sequence was initiated
Engine is a P160SX

Well, the software is almost done now, and the hardware is ready for production, so the minute the Dutch guy Sandor has the production set up, you can get a truckload of them [8D]
Sandor will probably chime in on that, but I guess the next few days he is going to enjoy the sun in Florida (that lucky ba$tard) [8D]

i am speaking now with a manufacturer to get them done.
we expect to see them april/ may
so we got enough time to develope the final software.
the hardware is done , we will be looking getting a enclosure , but we will leave the unit also open for customers to implement it into the cockpit instrument panel.

Yeah, I know, thats life, maybe next year...
Unless of course that all my money is spent in your booth at JetPower in September (like last year) :D

Getting there...
Only the max pump voltage screen is missing, and the GPS and airsensor, these will be added when I get a GPS receiver, and gets my airspeed sensor mounted to an airframe ;)
This is the version Sandor is bringing to Sunny Florida in less than a week...

(video will soon be ready at youtube, still processing...)

Hi Carsten,

The screen is changing a bit too fast in idle mode. Could you make each screen stay for 1/2 a second longer, this to be able to take note of the data ?

Could you have two screen options available ?

One with auto screen loop as seen on the video
One with manual screen change (when activating the small push button on the control board) ?

That way, people who don't want all the detailed data just get the main screens but still have the possibility to browse through the screens by pushing the small button.

Also, in idle mode could you have the turbine state displayed on the lower left corner?
This way people could have all the information available on the I/O board and get rid of it. ( in case programming would be required, we could disconnect the data cable from the control board and plug the GSU in )

The idle display would look like this:
Temp......Bat
State.......Off cond

and the start display like this:
Temp.....Bat
State.....Current RPM

So you'd have only one data changing between the two sequences.

Also Sandor, make sure that you'll give a long ribbon length for people who want to install the screen far away from the board ( maybe one meter ?)

the unit is very small , therfor not needed to make another cable
the prototyp shown has a example cable , the original one is much shorter.
and i rather have only one cable comming out of the unit

Oliver, I changed the time between the screens in idle, you were right, that was too fast.
The idea with the button is also a nice one, I'll consider making that user-selectable
However, I don't quite follow the idea having the state shown in idle mode, it is always the same (slowdown), so not much use ?
And the off-condition can be pretty long text (f.ex "AcclTimeOut"), and there would only be 7 chars left for that one

Joe,
I'm pretty sure that Sandor is about to receive production quantities of the info display in short time, so you should be able to buy them soon :)
I will upload a video to youtube of the finished screens as soon I get one of my jets outside

The software is almost finished now.
I have made a couple of videos, first one is for the configuration process, the second one is from a run in my Eurosport (P160SX), the indicated airspeed is from me blowing in the pitot tube :D
