One run more, this time with emperial units instead of metric.
Celcius is used instead of Fahrenheit in this mode as most of the "US guys" suggested that.

(youtube is currently crunching the numbers, so video should be available shortly....)

Good news is that 4 prototypes are underway to us for final checking.
after this we will have a enclosure made so all in all it looks that by the end of the month we can actually deliver.
if people want to pre order , please do this over the shop so we can keep trace about it.
i am updating the details right now ,with video,s and a user manual.

weight no idea not really interesting since it is so small my guess is around 50 grams or less.

the flatcable was only to connect the display to the mcu unit.

the final version will have all in a enclosure , or for the techincal guys
you can take out the display , intregate it into your cockpit and use it like that

Lior,
the weight of the unit (the two PCB's, the flatcable and 10 cm of cable to the ECU dataport) is 21 gram ;)

final stage has come

today i got the first ready done units from the factory

Oh ya, felt that love too. Still have jets, dont have Her. She required more maintenance than a Noseheavy Rookie..

Every now and again it is advisable to remind your other half that she is only the current wife or girlfriend.

RE: Digitech Jetcat Information Screen Project!

Got a question from a new user of the display, he is seeing some "ECU Comm errors" when he connects it to the I/O board (with the red/yellow/green LED), and the display shows no info.
He reports that the GSU works ok when connected to the I/O board.

A couple of notes:
1) The GSU communicates with the ECU using another "com port" than the JetCat Info Display. The GSU uses a I2C bus, and the info display uses a async bus, so even if the GSU works, this is no guarantee that the info display will too
2) Be sure that the "GPS setting in the ECU" (Turbine limits -> GPS Receiver") is NOT set to "COM1", if it is, then the ECU expects a GPS receiver on the async port, and it wont talk to the info display. The correct setting for the GPS receiver is "COM2" which is the 3 pin connector labelled "GPS" on the ECU

If this above fails, and the connector/cable to the JetCat Info Display is intact, please contact the dealer you got the unit from (or ask away here :D)

Hi, it was me that is having that problem.. so I need to go into my gsu and see what the gps port setting is set to?

Carsten Groen 04-11-2011 08:13 AM

RE: Digitech Jetcat Information Screen Project!

Hi Ron,
yes, if you check "Turbine limits" and check the "GPS Receiver" setting, this should NOT be set to "COM1"
Check this first and see whats in that setting

No development of this unit for other brands of turbines ?

Ron:
let us know what you discover !

Gonzalo:
if just every turbine manufacturer would send me a free turbine to test on :D
I have no plans at the moment for this, I did the development of this info display for the fun of it, I have a number of JetCat engines, thought it would be nice to have a display like this, payed for the prototypes (and the approx 100 hours for development) out of my own pocket, and asked Sandor if he would like to have the complete design (for free), and have some produced for his customers.

Hi Carsten

I have the same problem as Ron where it reads ECU comms error although every now and then it will actually dispaly data. When it does display the data it alsmost cycles through and gets to one point and shows the comms error message and then cycles through and shows data again. I have 2 installed in an F14 and can swap the leads from one ECU to the other and the problem stays with the one display.

I can try and get some vid for you if that helps?

RE: Digitech Jetcat Information Screen Project!

Hi Bart,
that sounds suspecious !!
If there is no obvious faults on the cable, there must be some kind of fault on the device itself, can you maybe check if the cable connections are "solid" ?
If they look ok, I guess your best bet is to contact the place you got them from (I'm just the developer ;))

Aussie Bart 04-11-2011 12:57 PM

RE: Digitech Jetcat Information Screen Project!

Carsten

That's cool, no problems. I reckon it maybe a dry joint or something but have not removed it yet to see. I have changed the plug twice with no variation in the fault. I havea few others in other airframes and they work perfect so it's not a "product fault".

Thanks
