Reaps,

Have you decided on what elevator servos you will be using ?

I bought the DS3201 (4kg/cm) as recommended by Ali.  I was originally going to buy the DS9401 (5kg/cm) but I was told it is discontinued although inwoods still list it.

The DS3201 is the rebranded US DS3421SA, specs below.

What did you order?
This one, painted in mold. Plus P-80SE. Ali was doing a special combo price at the time, which was nice.

As seen at the JMA AGM and flown thoughout the season by Ali.
I had some mad ideas for other schemes/colours which looked awfull in hindsight [:@]
in hindsight??????? we told you straight away that your ideas were hideous lol :D

It's here!

Best bit, the painting is spot on and will only require a bit of polishing. I still would have prefered the blue but the red is growing on me very quickly.

Not so good, workshop is a mess with a half finished falcon 120 on the table... time to tidy.

Worst bit, polystyrene bits all over the downstairs of the house and apparently it's my turn to hoover :(

RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.

Well I'm sat at home stunned and broke.......

Yesterday I was asked to confirm my desired colour scheme as the SM were ready to build it.
Today I had a message from Ali saying it was ready for collection from the Jet Center if I still wanted it !
About 6 weeks early by my estimation, not quite budgeted for, so no "Coke and Hose" parties round my house in August.
Bread and water for the next 6 weeks then.

Got some other goodies and an excellent set of wing bags.

The wooden crate the model came in is still in the car, I don't have the strength to get it out !

Like you I have to get the workshop in order.

Cheers Ali [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Don't be a wimp I carried mine in no bother - just a little awkward.

Workshop is nearly tidied just need to brush up :)

Lots of bling! Everyone loves pictures :)

There's more scale details than i thought there would be, I'm quite impressed.

The model is unpacked and dry assembled on the dining room table, it's quite big !
Paint finish is very good, just needs degreasing and cleaning here and there. Some car polish hand applied will finish it off.
No need for any T cutting or power buffing.

I love the live hinging on the ailerons, flaps and elevators, and the curved bits that fill in the gap when the control surface is deflected.
I just have to Hysol 3 robart style hinges into the fin, factory glued into the rudder already.

I am pleased the canopy glass is already glued into the frame, a job I hate and mess up.

I was given a Girly F-15 pilot that fits very nicely in the cockpit. (Capt. Norma Stitz ?)

Some of you may disagree but the jet seems no worse than my BVM Bobcat in quality and build.

Just selecting servos from my stores and might start putting them in this afternoon.

Very pleased, a lot of jet for the money.

Now for the dumb questions:
Is it OK to have the P-80SE glow plug pointing down between 4 and 8 O'clock ?
And when you Guys mention lower bypass, you do mean lower, but fitted above the turbine, as the turbine is effectively upside down ?
i.e. it just acts as a heat deflector to protect the upper fuselage locally

No it's not as it wouldn't be sitting in the gas - the glow plug should be close to vertical.

Got the fuse and tail feathers polished and decaled/trimlined just got the wings to do. You can't see it from the pics but the difference between the red at the wing roots (polished/glaxzed) and the wings is quite noticable as the polished version is deeper.

Duncan/Ali, i have 3 large chrome bits left (see pic) along with a shedload of chrome rivets - where are they meant to go?

Also, what's the horizontal teardrops at the rear infront of the rectangular hatch - should there be something for that?

Hi reaps

The cirlces go on the side of the fuz, underneath the front windshield. The raidiator looking one wasn't used on my viper.

There are pretty much double the amount of rivets included, it allows for any you drop while applying and spares for future use

Cheers

Dunca

This is the spot Duncan is talking about... also note how well applied the stickers are on mine, amazing when you consider who did it! :D

Cool, thanks for that Duncan/.Sverrir :)

I see you put some rivets on the luggage compartment on the nose, i might do that myself.  I know it's not scale but any idea where I should stick the chrome vent and what the teardrop is?  On the fullsize looking at airliners.net I see it's only on one side but i guess it was cheaper for SM to make an identical sides in the mold.

Cheers,

Colin

Selleri. What pilot are you using and do you know where I can get one?

Selleri 08-01-2010 08:56 PM

RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.

This is the large Viper, the pilot is from http://www.premierpilots.net/ so I don't think it'll do you much good.

The teardrop thingy is on both sides, at least in [link=http://www.tube.lankaeuro.com/video/SCiuLeYi9_A/Viper-Jet-Performance-Without-Compromise.html]this video[/link], I just told people its an APU. ;)

The vent on Ali's went inbetween the T and tha Silver on the rear of the fuz. There should of been 2 in eash decal set, but as i don't use them, i totally forgot.

We'll we did the maiden on the Viper yesturday and had 3 great flights. A few minor adjustments here and there. I have to say she flys very well. Kingtech was flawless with plenty of power. Thanks to Jim and Rob for helping get her in the air.

Here's a video link...sorry no sound as the guy next to us wouldn't shut up!

Was that Rob Lynch on the Sticks?

Jjet 08-02-2010 02:07 PM

RE: Viper Jet 2M Pointers/ tips.

Yes, Rob Lynch was on the sticks. Awsome skills...he did a great job. I think he trimmed a few bushes in the process though.
