Idle Problem
Hello all.
How are you guys? I recently up dated my ECU to Xicoy 605 ECU. I test run the engine a couple of times before, and it worked flawlessly. However, today I was starting it up for a brake test, and I had forgotten to remove the fuel vent plug. The pump collapsed the UAT, and engine quit. After I removed the fuel vent plug, the engine start fine with a couple of spurts of blue fire from the exhaust cone. The terminal indicated that it achieved running status, but soon after reaching the idle RPM, it begins to surges up and down up and down between 34000 to 35500 for about 15 seconds then it shuts down. I reset the power, ECU, nothing seems to work. Please help if you gents would happen to know the culprit. Thank you so much. |
RE: Idle Problem
what was the ECU shutdown message? is your RPM jumping all over while on the starting phase? do you have RPM readings when turbine is not running?

RE: Idle Problem
Hi Ruiz.
The ECU stated low RPM when it shuts down. The RPM during the starting process was normal, smooth. Only when the terminal display "running" message, that's when it surges. |
RE: Idle Problem
Check your fuel system. Since it collapsed your UAT you could have something blocking or restricting. Check all of that. Also, I would go ahead and relearn your ECU. Besides that, not sure what else it would be.

RE: Idle Problem
The low rpm message could mean a fuel delivery problem(ECU knows it's pumping fuel, but RPM are decaying past the shutdown threshold), most surely restriction, as said, the UAT collapsing may have forced foreign matter past the membrane, check your fuel filter, open UAT and remove membrane and check and clean...

RE: Idle Problem
Hi.
Thank you so much for your assistance. I will try to test it again tomorrow and bypass the fuel system altogether to see if its the pump, or the tanks. I am suspecting its the tanks issues too. :) Thank you again. |
RE: Idle Problem
let us know what you find out.

RE: Idle Problem
Did you try going to a higher RPM rather than letting it sit at idle ?

RE: Idle Problem
Having the ECU run while the restriction went higher (from the plug) may have re calibrated the fuel curve and confused the ECU a bit. If I understand how Garpar's ECU's work, I think the ECU should correct the problem on its own and re adapt with more run time. Try starting it and let it run through a tank or so, cycling the throttle up and down a few time occasionally, then check the idle consistency again.

RE: Idle Problem
Hello all.
I bypassed the tanks altogether today, and it ran perfectly, so I guess its time to troubleshoots the tanks then. Will post as to why. Thanks again for all of the help guys. :) |
