RE: FEJ L39 1/7TH

i gave him that gear awile ago and tried to sell a few times but nothing
thats what i said
boneheaded move
anyway
good luck on yours just triple check everything
also is your nose wheel steering with that fork shaped u and a pin goes inside when wheel locks

if so you need to somehow extend the u or fork and move the pin when retracted closer to the center of the u
this is so it wont slip out at full deflection if this happens wheel slips and stays in one position

thanks

I don't seem to have the problem, the fork is way long enough.

Nice... They seem to have improved a lot. support beams for retracts, balsa/carbon sandwich formers, overall extensive use of carbon fiber...
Mine was far from that when I opened the box.
Hope you also bought the now available kevlartank option. Mine split open twice right on the seam line... no was to fix that up.
All solved with a kevlar tank.
I'm sure it was no more pain for FEJ to make it right strait. doing it all over has been a really painful for me.

As to your question, I have no spares. I'll have to run to the small spring factory to have them cutom made for you from my set.
I'll do that only if bad news from FEJ about their own springs.

RE: FEJ L39 1/7TH

Thanks Yann,And yes I have the kevlar tank option and cock pit.Still thinking about your flaps but something I will do later. Not sure if you are going to Kentucky Jets.I'm heading out on Thursday.

No, I'm not going. Flying on the french riviere is not bad either...
I don't know how much flap deflection you can get, as it seems the original setup has improved a lot.
I would still consider doing so, no matter how it looks, it works just wonderfully. The plane comes in much slower.
No matter how long your runaway is, the faster the plane at touch down, the more energy the gear/tires have to dissipate.
Furthemore, the slower you can bring your plane in, the less likely you are to damage it...
Of course, it's up to you, but keep in mind this mod is really easy/quick to do.
Good luck anyway, and keep us posted.

Kentucky jets is the best show on earth,Lewis is one stand up man and treats everyone like family.Great job Lewis see ya next year.

Great looking color scheme on the L-39. Is that the large one (106")?

Hi David, Nice seeing you at Kentucky. If you have that picture they took of us standing by your L Viper I like a copy.To answer your question it's the small 1:7 54" WS, 71" length. My L Viper will be the same color schem but blue instead of red.

RE: FEJ L39 1/7TH

Ok gents, started to sort out the FEJ wing servo trays (Flap Aileron) The parts are laser cut and when finished becomes a sandwich box between the upper and lower skin. This keeps the box from flexing and adds strength to the wing in the cut out areas. Very nice design, will try and get some pics up this weekend. Tip make sure you scuff( not sand) all the laser cut edges for a better glue joint, take your time to fit all the pieces in the proper position and you may want to add some glass cloth to the upper skin before dropping the box in. Well done FEJ very pleased. Almost forgot, some trimming to the wing openings may be needed to drop the completed box when finished.

RE: FEJ L39 1/7TH

Sorry this is slow going but ran into a few snags.I decided to go with the electric modification from "Down and Lock"I will be sending the gear out today after not being able to get someone on the phone for a week.Spoke with Ron,real nice guy and said I have the gear back in three weeks. The gear will be electric and the doors will be air.The other snag is the flap sevo tray. The tray must be sandwich between the skins. On the lower skin this is done by fitting tabs between the tray and skin at each corner of the box.I cannot install the tabs in the flap opening due to the aft side the tabs are in conflict with the flap hinge support blocks. So I have come with three options to work around this.If anyone here has run into this problem let me know.I'm thinking since the hinge spar is so close to the servo tray box just to fill the gap with a solid 3/4 balsa block and have a solid connection to the tray. Also was missing one of the two push rods for the elevator,. called James and he has the replacment on the way. Thanks james.Sorry no pics but really not much to see yet.

Well gents,The gear came back from Down and Lock two weeks ago and on time like they promissed(looks great/works great).James also finally sent the elevator rods that was missing from kit.Since then I pick up a new DV8R from TBM and I am now building that jet,I will get back to the L39 when the DV8R is complete.
