Air Fill Question
 

What are you guys using for air fill interfaces? After many flights I'm looking for a better solution than tire-style filling. Iuse the BVMcheck valves and the threads are getting ground down - harder to get a good "bite" etc.

After trying a lot of poor valves I decided on only using BVM fill valves. I push a piece of freshly cut 3mm tube inserted inside the inner part of the valve to pump them up, so don't touch the threads at all and nothing gets worn. They are very good valves but very expensive, but a leaky valve is no use at all!

With the BVM Air Fill Valve, you can insert a length of air line into the hole in the valve.....use an extra air fill valve in the chuck of the compressor, or a BVM Air Fill Chuck...P/N BVM2192.
Cut a slight bevel on the end of the hose, and do not insert it more than 3/16" into the fill valve..Use Caution....there is a very small "Duck Bill One Way Check Valve" inside that could be damaged if the tube is inserted too deep.

I just use the bicycle tire fiitng like in Harley's first picture directly on the bvm fill fitting. Then you dont need to use anythign that neads to be screwed/threaded on.

i have seperate systems and fill them at once by using a Robart Air-Line Quick-Disconnect

The smoothest and nicest non return valve I have used ever...

That's what I'm currently using - just seems the more flights Iget, the more times Iget a false seal because the threads are getting worn down

Todd sells the Robart Quick Disconnects and they are SOOOOOOOO easy and clean. I think Tam uses them too. I love em, am converting all my jets to it. No more pain in the ***** threads and stripping. [sm=biggrin.gif]

My inflator came with a needle for inflating balls. I simply pushed the 3mm tube over it and the other end is treaded and the rubber clamp of the pump fits over it. Works well at no extra cost.

John, thanks! Iwas probably unclear, Iget the "hold the tube inside the BVM valve method," Iwas interested in any other ways besides the widely used tire inflation method and tube-inside-BVM-valve. Like the Robart - a positive locking type connection. Thanks for your help!

Smitty1001, Precisely. One end goes in place of your BVM check valve and stays with plane as your NEW check valve, other end stays with compressor, that way you just click the to connect, fill up, then unclick them. ZERO air lost during "unclicking" process and no having to thread and unthread fill valve.

Its just cleaner and easier, just like DelGatoGrande shows in his photo.

I love the quality of most BVM products, but the air-fill valve is not one of them. I've had too many of them develop leaks.

I now use something that is far cheaper yet far more resilient in my experience, and also has more flexibility in plumbing options.

Gordon, that looks like really nice hardware and VERYreasonable in price! You have any pics of it installed?

Others, interested in the Robart setup as well, looks clean and light.

Yes, that's correct.

Gordon, thanks! Nice application in the Jag, would definately use these in a new install and at a fraction of the cost of the purple! Iagree - about the only thing of BV's that seems could be better.......

I use the Clippard air fill ones as well. They work awesome. Also, why you are there pick up some of there tee's and crosses. They are very good, solid built unit. They don't have nipples threaded in to the body, but the whole body is one unit. Also, there airline is very supple and tough. I use all there air supply stuff except for pressure gauges. I like there airline much more then the stuff typ. avaliable from jet retailers. It seals much better and have yet to have any leaks at any fittings on retracts, or fittings. IMHO.

Aloha guys..

I need some help with my tires. I just bought some 4" dubro tires to up graded my 3 1/2" foam tires. Now here's my problem. The tires come with a valve on the side of the tire, I have a device that screws into the valve, what kind of inflator do I use? is it the small hand pump like to ones used to pump up balls. There was no instruction on the tire card or any explination on how to put more air into the tires.
