Default CEN FunFactor BG to MT2! Is it possible?

Hello People Especially CEN Racing,

I have been trying to get my hands on a CEN MT2, but the only thing remotely like a MT2 that I can get around here is a FunFactor BG.

How much are they differ? The A-frames seem shorter on the BG. Please advise.

Default CEN FunFactor BG to MT2! Is it possible?

mostly true except the gearing ,wheels and tires , and body , it shouldn't matter much though.the wheels for the st2 or mt2 should mount right up because the funfactors are all convertable into the other funfactors.like my st2 ,i am converting it to a MT but the only difference is tires ,gearing, and body.

is that one with a two speed if so then this is the one you want for the gearing on the MT2 , http://www.rcmodels.com/rc-cen-g84309-04.html , and for the ST2 it's this, http://www.rcmodels.com/rc-cen-g84308-04.html , i not exactly sure if that is the same for the st2 but it seems right. hope i helped. Also i took it for a short run at Dundalk high school parking lot and Wow ! i rolled it over twice by accident it just kicked in second gear and i had to turn it or it would have slammed the curve at about 40MPH and it when into a 3 wheel drift and one of the wheels caught an edge in the street and cartwheeled about 60 FEET HIT another curb anyway and slid on the roof about 10 ft till it stopped :stupid: . AND STILL WAS RUNNING AT A STEADY IDLE ! the right front hub popped off one of the pivot balls connected to the lower suspension arm. The way it was sitting i thought i was in for a $300 repair but to my surprise it had 3 scratches and a couple cracks in the stock body! Man the Cen vehicles continue to hold up to there durability . i yet to havea repair to make more than $10 ! the pullstart snapped, or sounded like it but the spring wire inside just popped out, 5 min. fix.that was my fault.but i would be amazed it anyone disliked the Cen off-road vehicles( i'm not putting down the Cen on-road , it's just i haven't driven one yet! ). i'll keep you posted !CEN ST2 ROCKS!!!!!!!!( i might even say i like it more than my MT)(Uh , Oh , I dishonored the allmighty MT2,

BG - MT2: Body, wheel/tire, suspension arm, shocks, gearing, shock towers...etc

Its not a 5 minutes job like ST - MT

See if you can get a ATX (a buggy) or ST over there. It will save you a lot of money and time on conversion.

Hi CEN Racing,

Yes, just found out that there may be a ATX that I can get here. Looking at all the specifications on your web-site, I think the differences are Body, Gear-Ratio & The Tire. Even the wheels are the same.

How big of a job is to change the Gear-ratio? What do I need to get?

this is the 2 speed clutch bell that matches the mt2 http://www.rcmodels.com/rc-cen-g84309-04.html .it only requires taking the engine off and removing th original clutch bell.

Default CEN FunFactor BG to MT2! Is it possible?

Hello All,

I am now a proud owner of a CEN Racing ATX Buggy. :-)

May be I will Break-in the Engine as it is! I know the Gear Ratio is different to the MT2, but perhaps I will just try My Kyosho Dodge Ram Wheel, Tyres & Body on it, just to see if they fit. Getting the Clutch bell will take time.

If I get bored enough this week end, I may even try getting a new Truck Body for it! The stock body is a bit too different to my taste. My first impression of the FunFactor...........The Buggy has been put together well. Not sure about the performance as I have no way of driving it until I return home to Hong Kong in a week or so time.

Thanks for your advise

Thanks Petrolpixie,

I am sure the ATX buggy is just as good. And the best thing is it is so similar to the MT2. If I can have a spare set of MT body, types & wheels, I can then turn the ATX into a MT in no time. 2 cars for the price of 1.......Can't be bad!

I am also really impressed with the high level equipments that come stocked like Bearings & Pipe (My first Pipe......I am so excited!)with the CEN Racing trucks. I must have spent more on my Kyosho Dodge Ram than the Stock CEN already, and still have no bearings & pipe on it. I don't think the ATX will be my last CEN!

One thing that worries me though! I have heard some bad things about the stock RC Control unit. So the next thing on the wish list will be a new RC Control.

Yea, there isn't much difference between the ATX and the MT2. I would suggest the change in clutch bell gears and set it up for the MT if that's what you plan on doing most of the time. Then switching between the two wheel sizes will be easy and work well with both.

I've basically got two trucks in one with my MT2. I've got the stock wheels/tires and a second set of stadium truck sized tires. Switching the tire sets gives the MT2 a completly different personality.

Have fun with the new ATX. I'm really enjoying my MT2.

Sounds like a very good idea!

I will probably put a Futaba into the ATX & a high torque Servo for steering. Then put the CEN Mirage III on an Electric Car.

I really don't like the Auto-Switch off function on the Mirage III. What if it goes off while running the truck?

CEN Racing seems to have disappeared for a while!

Dear Kenny C,

There are a few things that you can do to minimize the "stress" on the drive train. Our team drivers found that if you limit the up travel in the shocks it will help out quite a bit. You can do this by puting limiters on the outsid of the shock body, on the shock shaft. It is recommended to limit the up travel about .125mm which is about the size of a shock piston. You can actually use a shock piston if you'd like. Another thing that you can do is use a little thicker diff grease in your diffs. Try to find a thick lithium grease. This is what we found to work the best. Also, are you driving your vehicle on ruff off-road surfaces, or on-road surfaces?

Seems like this is the only real weak link to the drivetrain. Why not make a stonger version. In all the beatings to our trucks this seems like the only real problem. Even though we have only broken two of them after 10 foot long jumps on hard surface.

Default CEN FunFactor BG to MT2! Is it possible?

Hello People,

At last, I am back home with my new CEN ATX. I swapped the wheels on my Kyosho with the ATX, and they fitted as well as I expected. The Kyosho Dodge Ram body also looks OK on the ATX.

Since Kyosho parts are readily available, I should have no problem turning my ATX into a MT

Thanks for all your help
