I just unpacked my new Savage SS kit and noticed the engine is stamped 3.5 on the block. 3.5 says its a 21. It was advertised as having a 4.1 (25). Above the 3.5 it says either 25 or SS, the casting is poor and not very legible, but the 3.5 is clearly stamped on the block. I wanted to contact HPI but they are closed until Tuesday. I don't want to wait until then, I'm going to go ahead and put it together.
Anybody who has the SS kit, what does your engine say, 3.5 (21) or 4.1 (25)?
Besides the questionable engine the kit looks real nice.

Ok, well you are right that it says 3.5 on the side and thats right. It's the same case as the .21's it's just boarded out inside. don't call HPI because thats how it's sopose to be.

The same thing happened when I looked at my Dirt Demon ( before I got rid of it!!!!) It said 3.5 but it was actually 4.25 . Dont worry about it you have a 4.1

its not an error its the way they are made...ALL .25 owners already knows this lol...all ofna force .25 engine have 3.5 stamped on the side.....So its normal...

I think Central Florida Hobbies down here in Orlando has/had them in stock....is that where you got one?

I ordered my MX-3 this week so it will have to wait anyway.Its good to know that they're close though

i paid $329.99 at a lhs. rignt now im going to break in the engine. so far i love my SS and i havent even driven it yet.

Me want one so bad :bananahea . It should say 4.1cc on the engine, or at least that is what it said in the article for it in Car Action.
