Default Snow Tires

I was wondering if it'd be better to put my stock t-maxx tires on so the treds roll backwards, rather than normal for the snow. It seems like they'd scoop the snow better that way kinda like paddles. ( I am way too cheap to by real mud paddle tires)
has anyone tried this or does anyone know if it works well?

um turning the tires around will give you more traction in the snow, sand, mudd and any realy loose stuff!! Been there done that, and it DOES WORK a little better then the directional way, but your best bet is to spend $25 on a pair of paddles, you will get killer traction and youll through some awsome rooster tails, check out this pic of my truck on the beach. It will do the same thing in the snow!!

try playing around with it. see what works best. if you have a set of scrap tires and rims you can put small nails or pins through the tire from the inside out to let you run on ice.

I have a 30 ft river bank out behind the house that I climb out of, and heres what I've found.

Turning the tires around does help increase traction, but if you turn both the front and the rear it darts across the hill and is difficult to keep headed straight up. For me, front on correct and rears turned around works the best.

As for paddles, the snow here in northern Utah is very dry (quit laughing!) Paddles just dig in. I've gone to Imex Jumbo swamps to get a good aggressive tread and better flotation.

FWIW

you need floatation on snow, not digging. I would use monster pirate or clod tires if possible, or some big tires that you can find. Paddles will work on stiff snow but not powder.

or just paddles in the rear, and stock tires in the front, then it'd only be like $35 rather than $70 for 2 sets of paddles/other tires + wheels.

I'd guess it would probably be awesome for drag racing and maximum traction in the snow, but not as good in terms of handling, when compared to typical truck tires with spikes, V treads, swamps, ect.

i can make more ,the only thing chain is expensive it takes 10 feet@ 1.59 can to do
2 t maxx tires and 12 feet @ 1.59 for 2 savage tires. so a set of 4 t maxx are $32 canadian for chain and the savage are 37.00 for chain. so for a set of tmaxx i charge $50.00 canadian and savage are $55.00.

Just a thought....why not use some chains with spikes in them? sort of like choke chains for dogs? Or weld some spikes on a regular chain...take alot of time though.
