RE: CEN MT2 pics
Bigjdubb, I have never agreed with the drop test to check suspension, but right now, I can feel that my front shocks and springs are softer than the rear. they rebound really fast, but a three foot drop isnt much for these trucks, and I fear that things can get pretty ugly if I don't stiffen the front up just a bit. the suspension speed for bound and rebound right now would be very good for a road car, or buggy, but the added weight of the tires on the MT make it a bit to loose for bashing and jumping. So I just want to try some heavier shock oil to try and slow it down a little. but I am not sure what would be a good choice. Thanks for your concern and help with it though.

RE: CEN MT2 pics
Hey thanks for the info....
I started out wanting the MT2 but I have a friend that has a TMAXX. Even thoght he likes his TMAXX, he sugested the Savage 25. By the time I add Hop Ups to the MT2, I'm sure close to the price of the Savage. Thant's the decision to make. MT2 299.00 or Savage 25 389.00 (ebay).

RE: CEN MT2 pics
is that a used savage? is so, I would get the new Cen. I am trying to sort out the used truck issues with my Cen, and even thought it has been very simple, its a lot of down time that I cant run my truck. Plus, you don't have to do hop-ups for the Cen, the savage you do. Unless the savage has a lot of stuff done to it already. But at that point, if its a good running truck, with lots of parts. Why are they selling it so cheap? Then only upgrade you should do with the Cen out of the box is a new transmitter. But the stock will get it broken in and start you off. At that point, you can get a used transmitter and still use the stock receiver. That is what I am doing now. Anyway, if given the choice between the two, I would still go with the Cen. If you doubt what we are saying here. do a search on Google for Cen Fun Factor MT2, you should come up with at least three reviews on it and none are bad.

I would think a little harder about that. All you are really buying is a 10% off coupon for their store. I also would look in to how many things you are going to need to upgrade or want to upgrade. and what parts break often and how much they are. Also take in to account that the Savage is a single speed, and the Cen is two speed. The Savage is a 1/8th scale, and the Cen is 1/10th. Plus they say that you can be out in 15 min. driving your truck. I wonder what happened to the break in? The kid that I bought my cen from had just bought a T-maxx and it had been benched for a little more than a week when I picked up my truck, his brothers T-maxx had been OOC for three weeks or so, and his dads Savage had spent more time on the bench than on the track. His dad also told me that the Cen had conquered terrain that is Savage was getting stuck on. But ultimately it is your decision. Good luck and have fun doing the research, and let us know what you get.

There really isnt anything that needs to be added to the Savage to be a capable truck, and the Savage is a 2 speed (just no reverse). The Savage is also a very durable truck, the one real downfall to the Savage is it can be a pain to work on. If you have the intent to race in the MT class I would say that the MT2 is the way to go right now, it's smaller size and lighter weight give it an advantage on the track.
As for picking shock weights, I am not sure what weight comes in the stock shocks a good starting point would be 35 wt though. If that isnt enough then try a heavier weight. Just make sure you dont do the drop test to choose your weight, it really is totally worthless. If you notice that your truck is starting to hop around on rough surfaces then your shock weight (or springs) are to heavy. The goal is to find a weight that is a good compromise between handling, body roll and hard landing compression. If you go to soft if will soak up the bumps really well but roll to much in the turns and bottom out very harsh on the jumps. If you go to heavy the truck will bounce through the rough stuff, traction roll through the corners and not "soak up" the landings but rebound like crazy and cause a loss of control.
It is really easy to just add shock oil weight until the truck doesnt bottom out, but thats not what you want. I use 40 wt front and 45 wt rear in my buggy that weighs about 12 lbs. For me it is easier to choose my springs and then match the oil to the springs.

RE: CEN MT2 pics
the stock CEn oil is 35 I think.
the thing is it ( at least to me) is very sensitive to temp change.
I put in mugen 40 weight and the was a huge difference.
Also as far as suspension goes I like to have up travel in my shocks.
droping the ft end from a 45 degree angle makes my lower control arms leval with the chassis.
I set the rear just a tad higher to compensate for engine torque.
Now if your doing nothing but jumping then you may want the shocks totally different. I don't know, as I don't do any jumping yet.

RE: CEN MT2 pics
It is supposed to hit 45mph out of the box. Don't know if thats true cause I have been trying to undo some stupid stuff done to it by the last owner. That speed and its weight (7 Lb) makes it pretty fast on the track. I have heard of lots of Stock MT2's beating mod'ed Savages and T-maxx's

Sorry about not posting earlier. I glanced really quick to see what was new on the thread. You have one sweet paint job on that truck, did you do it yourself? I am not big on the chevy look but it is really cool lookin. How do you like your MT2? I have yet to get mine running completely yet, so I have yet to see the full performance on my truck.
