Default Need help picking a motor, please help!

I own a gen 1 t-maxx setup as a gen 2 without the widemaxx suspension. I'am looking at the
team orion .18,fantom .18, or the new .21 medium block by www.teampicco.com p2.
The 2.5 that is in it is said to put out 1.9 hp at 40,000 rpm ,as per a traxxas employee. If it's 1.9 hp then a .18 shouldn't hurt the tranny or anything else. I just don't know the quality or the realiability of these motors. I just want to swap out motors not build a whole new truck. I run on asphalt, sand, and clay.Mostly off road though if that helps at all.

First of all the Traxxas trx 2.5 only puts out 1.33 horse power. Don't go with a .21 because then you will have to spend alot more money just to get the big block conversion and everything else that is needed. Get the Fantom .18 I have heard alot of good things about this engine...It is easy to tune and has Alot more power than the trx.. Hope that helped

That particular big block he mentioned - is suppoed to be the first direct dop in for the Maxx from what I understand. been waiting to find out.

My wife has a TMaxx 2.5 and I been debating on selling it or putting a bigger motor in it. I spent a lot putting hop-ups on it. I almost don't want to get rid of it now. If we keep it I am waiting to find out about this 21 though. If it ends up being a direct fit, my wife wants it for her Maxx.

If you don't wait for it, then go with the Fantom 18.

my Epic .18 makes my terra crusher fly to 40 with a 18CB, and thats at 12 1/2 lbs. Go with the Epic, its the cheapest, and best bang for the buck.

actually the wasp is cheapest, but rather weak for a .18

go epic , i am gonna get one they have with the slide carb or the rotory carb both are the same price and put out about 1.8 hp and is $20 cheaper than the fantom. And both come with a pullstart, here is the slide carb one https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...t.pl?pn=EP1801 and here is the rotary carb one https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...t.pl?pn=EP1800 . Personaly i am gonna get the slide carb for my maxx because i am putting it on my .21 chassis. Hows that for a custom.
