What are slipper pegs?
Hi, I recently got a used tmaxx on ebay(my first nitro) and I think I need to replace my slipper discs on my tmaxx...
(it will just sit there with engine screaming and it doesn't go anywhere...)
I saw an auction on ebay for slipper pegs.... What are they?
What do they do?
Do I need them?

RE: What are slipper pegs?
The slipper pegs are rubber pegs in the holes on the slipper clutch gear. When you tighten the nut on the slipper clutch they compress. Thus making the clutch more or less responsive if you've tightened the nut.

Here is mine..... It looks like they are there (kind-of)... but they seem to be worn down smooth to the metal....
Would this be the cause of my problem?

RE: What are slipper pegs?
Yes! If they're worn down to the point where they're only as long as the gear is wide, you need new ones. They should be slightly longer than the gear is wide to work properly. If they aren't the disc will make contact with the gear and there's not enough friction to make the thing work properly.

The slipper pegs are relitively cheep, but you might want to spend you money more wisely and get the RRP slipper up-grade
It works way better than the stock set up
well worth the money

RE: What are slipper pegs?
Thanks for the advice...
I think I have the RRP upgrade...
Here's a pic... Is this the RRP set-up? (there are 2 blue discs-only 1 in pic)
I guess my next question is how do I know if my slipper pads are worn out?
THANKS!!!!

RE: What are slipper pegs?
with the spur gear that you have you do not have slipper pegs. The brown material is the clutch or the replacement for the slipper pegs. You need to make sure that the clutch material is super glued to the blue aluninum clutch shoes. On the transmission output shaft install in the following order: aluminum spacer, blue clutch, spur gear, blue clutch, spring, lock nut. Tighten the lock nut all they way down compressing the spring and then back off 1/4 of a turn. Once it is setup like that you should not have any other issues with the spur gear.

You can usually tell when they are worn because you'll have to keep trying to tighten them and they still slip
If they look real black, Shinny, and hard. Kinda a hard polished look
that a sign they are getting worn
I had that system installed in my .21 xtm maxx conversion just before I sold it, so I never had to replace the pads, it work way better than the stock set up
Chris is right use about 3 or 4 drops of CA to hold it all aligned when you
put it together,
add gas
go fast
have fun,
break something else
start over
the rc car addiction, aint it great!!
