Excuse me for being dumb, but what is a "port"
I hear people talking about 8 port engines, but i have no idea what is going on. HELP ME...... [:@]
Can you get a system for a savage 25 so that you have the starter motor built inside the truck and not on a handhelp thingy???
Thanks guys

RE: 8 port??
ports all holes around the piston in the engine...usually for a 8 port motor its 5 oxygen ports and 3 exhaust ports...the more ports you have the more h.p. your engine can put out...the landmaxx from kyosho i think has a 12 port motor ...revs very high and HUGE power numbers

RE: 8 <span class=
the ports isn't always the issue. The way the ports are designed are very key also. you can have tons of ports, but they don't work well then it's all garbage. alot of good engines have like 7 ports. There are also turbo engines.. where the glow plug and head button is different. So it's very hard to say :-) No, the engine comes with how many ports, you can't just change the sleeve

RE: 8 <span class=
otterball21 is right. You can't go sticking a whole bunch of ports on a sleeve. There is a lot of math involved in the port geometry. It has to have the correct degree on it to get the most sufficient amount of fuel/air or to let out the exhaust. And the more ports the more power isn't necessarily true. Some engines have 4 ports but each port is larger then on an 8 port engine. Some engines have 'turbo' ports which is done by increasing or decreasing the port degree.
You can't buy an 8 port sleeve and stick it in a different engine because each engine has different amount of intake slots on the actual engine block. The only way I could see a different sleeve being used would be to make more or less slots but how would you do that???[&:]
