I just ordered a CEN MT2. What spare parts should I stock up on? Also, its my understanding that a starter box can be used on this truck does anyone know if thats correct? Now all I have to do is wait a few months for the snow to melt before I drive it[

I like the reviews of the CEN MT2. It looks to be a nice rig in my mind and to me is worth the $$$. Others do not say the same...but then....we all offer different views based on how we drive and what we do with our rigs.....so possibly somewhere in the middle is the real answer.

I would like to hear more about your rig when you get it....and if the snow melts enough for you to be able to get it out and run some fuel through it.....you can tell us what you like...or don't like about it?
Thanks!

Na, I use my Sportmaxx and X-terminator for racing. I plan to bash with it and have some fun on my track in my backyard. I just ordered the New Era roll cage for it. I already have a failsafe and new receiver for my radio waiting to be put in. We've got about a foot of snow on the ground and another foot coming on Sunday, plus the temps are in the 20's during the day. Really not good weather for breaking in a engine so it looks like I'll have to wait a while before I run it.

Razoo, from all the reading I have done you dont need much to stock up on.
Uni's
diff cups
I recommend a spare clutch, it sucks when your clutch dies and you don't have a spare. I tried a traxxas clutch and the clutch is to light an the spring to hard to work right.
Element, All you need to do to run in snow is waterproof the elctronics. Take some RTV or similar sealant and go around the joints on the reciever box, put a little around the cord going in to the servos and you are good to go. Just make sure you do a good break-in on it.

oh yeah.......drive cups too!!!!

1. buy a piece of 7/16 inch diameter brass tubing.
2. cut 4 pieces about 1/4 inch long each.
3. take some tin foil and cut strips 5-6 inches long and 1/4 inch wide.
4. wrap the foil around the large end of the diff cup.
5. take one of the 1/4in brass pieces and see if it fits on the large end of the diff cup.
6. it probably wont so just remove one wrap at a time of the foil until the brass piece fits.
7. one the brass piece is on the diff cup, put a couple drops of THIN CA on it to hold the foil and the brass tube piece on and let it dry COMPLETELY.
8. finally you will need to file down a tiny bit of the shock tower to allow for the larger diff cup.
using this modifiacation, i havnt broken any diff cups since nor any other parts as a result of reinforcing this.
also you may consider getting a pair of tub shafts like used on the cen st or other 2WD models. this is because they are cheaper and if you break your front CVs and dont have any replacements you can use the stub axles.
and dont forget to put some thread loc on the set screws for the center drive shaft because you WILL lose them if you dont.

WE ran the cars in the winter. Lots of fun!! Make a track with packed snow....slide the corners....spin the wheels....see the snow fly. Best part no sand to clean out of you truck. Just warm a little and blow it off with air!!! Have a Merry xmas God Bless Capt,n

I run 20% nitro in all my cars. I use duratrax fuel filters and hobbico after run oil. I also recommend a failsafe. I won't even start anything without one. You will also need a glow ignitor. I use a rechargeable one. Spare glow plugs and a high quality set of metric allen wrenches are a must

Razoo, I am not sure on those part numbers. I need to look through my parts list for my truck.
Element, Fuel is what ever you can afford that is not really cheap. People say that blue thunder is the way to go for fuel, but I have been reading about a lot of gumming problems with it. I personally use wildcat fuels right now, they have a bunch of brand names that it is sold under and HPI is one of them. filter and after run oil are up to you. engine saver is supposed to be the best filter, but the stock would work for the time being. and after run oil, just buy what ever your LHS has on hand. there are only a few manufacturers and they all do the same thing.

I have had the plug in mine for two months now, it still looks great. I have put about half a quart of fuel through it with now problems. And I am not sure about the spur gear being weak. It is plastic, but the truck I have is used and its been being used since july and the spur is still damn near brand new.

Well after waiting a week for my truck to come in my LHS has informed me that it would be at least 2 more before it comes in. Needless to say I cancelled the order. Cen might make a good truck but their distribution is very poor!

The only place I buy trucks/cars is from my LHS. If I have a problem with it I can take it back to them. Buying mail order might initially be cheaper but if you need to send it back you pay for shipping and then may have to wait weeks for a repair. Although not totally unexpected this experience has soured me on CEN. I hope they get their act together soon!

Razoo, its not Cen that is the problem, Its your LHS. If you go to toyhaus, or ehobbies, you will get very fast results. Cen is a hell of a company with awesome customer service, and they have bent over backwards to help me more than once. You could try giving them a call to find out what is going on that you can't get your truck a little sooner. If nothing else, give me the name and location of the LHS and I will call Cen and the LHS to find out what is going on. I really like to stir up a little trouble every now and then.
