I installed a new pipe and did the dual tank mod on my Savage 21 and now the engine keeps stalling when I just let the car idle. To start the engine I normally have to set the trim higher then normal. I used to be able to drop this back down after the engine had warmed up, but now if I drop it back to normal the engine will stall in about 15 seconds. If I leave the trim high, then it'll happily idle there for ages. My guess I'm running too rich, but I'm afraid that I'll run the engine too lean if I continue to lean out the LSN. I also don't just want to leave the trim higher then normal cos a) it drinks more fuel b) i don't want to melt my clutch (I read this somewhere, can't remember where... is this even right???)
Could there be any reason for this happening... its very frustrating cos once the damn thing stalls it won't start up again until its cooled down to room temp again. Whenever I try to start the engine while its still hot it seems as if no fuel gets to the engine even if I prime it heaps...

Dual tank mod??? Im not sure, but i would guess that with the two tanks, you may not have enough back pressure to feed the engine at the same rate it did before the mod. Post some pics of this setup, and any details. Im sure we can figure this out. You should be able to raise the idle a bit. NOT with your trim. If you need to raise the idle, and keep the clutch from engaging, then we can help you tune the clutch shoes too.

is it good to have the rpm's sorta in the high or medium range at idle or shoudl it be like low and medium. my friend brother was talking to my friend about increase his rpm's at idle for faster acceleration. would changing the lsn make this happen? if i am worng on this can you tell me plz how i could.
what would tuning the clutch do? cuz on my onraod car if the clutch goes or w/e i jsut get a new one and pop it on.

Your idle should be smooth, but low. A high idle usually only leads to higher temps. When i refer to tuning a clutch, there are certain things you can do to make the clutch engage later, or earlier. For instance! If you need to raise your idle for some reason, but your clutch kept grabbing, you could use heavier springs, or shave the clutches for a later response. My goal for idle is to get it as low as possible, without stalling while running, braking, or just sitting. There are other benefits to tuning a clutch. A later engagement would mean a harder out of the hole punch. Simply because your motor was at a higher RPM when the clutch engaged. I prefer an early clutch engagement, it keeps things really smooth. I also always use aluminum clutch shoes. I like the way they grab.

if it is dying whe it idles u need to speed up the idle by turning it clockwise do not adjust the idle by using the throttle trim because then when u apply the break it will idle low again and die. always apply the breaks when u adjust your idle, then set your throttle trim afterwards.
