Steel balls instead of slipper pegs?
Hi,
Have any of you tried running steel balls instead of slipper pegs in your spur gear? My truck is a T-Maxx & 1/8" steel balls fit into the slipper peg holes perfectly, but I haven't ran it yet. Seems like it would be more durable. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
bjadams

One word: "DON'T". They will slip, spin, generate heat, and melt your spur gear, tranny case, heat the bearings, etc. You will also have a loss in performance as they will slip more than the friction pegs.

Actualy some people are doing just the oposite in the Nitro Thunder King ball diff. You remove the balls and put the pegs in their place!

I would also not recomend you use balls on any slipper clutch, some of use have made new slipper pegs from 1/8 , 3mm solid carbon fiber rod cut to size and it works great in our NTK diffs so this type of simular mod should also work for you.
