In general would a electric motor go thru spur gears as fast as a nitro ?

Not IMO. Ive had my electric rustler for 10 months and havent stripped 1 yet. It also depends on your gear mesh. Make sure its set right

If your gear mesh is off and you have a powerful enough motor you can strip spurs just as much as a nitro. But, if your mesh is correct you shouldn't strip that many spurs in a nitro, and you should very rarely if ever strip a spur in an electric.

I have done at that and even had LHS set it up . we went out back on the street behind the store and the clerk even stripped in a matter of 5 min . I know some ppl don't like the duratrax mt's , but dispite the spur gear and drive line issue I have bashed it with some T-maxx, Savages , x-factors and still have yet to break a single turnbuckle or bulkhead .

Next time you set your mesh, try a piece of notebook paper folded over. I take a torn off section about three quarters of an inch wide and fold it in half. Then I put between second gear and the second gear pinion on my MT2. Then I adjust mesh so that the gears are tight with the paper in there and tighten down one screw. I then take a corner of the paper and tear off an inch and a half square section and take the precut corner and use it to check the angle of the gear. I do this by placing one cut edge against the clutch bell and the other cut edge against the teeth on the spur. I have run about half a gallon doing this every time I touch the spur gears and they aren't even showing any real signs of wear. This is after destroying two spurs in a month. also ck it all the way around.i've found theres always seems to be a tight spot in almost all my set-ups.i find the tightest spot and adjust it alittle on the tight side at that point.works like a charm.
