RE: The Price of Detail worth the money?
cool thanks that should work perfect, my local art supplier said I would need an air regulator moisture trap for any industrial type compressor.
There goes another 60 bucks lol
those fittings will work well tho, added to the p/u list
thanks again

I was doing some checking into that harborfreight compressor, I got an email back from a vendor re; that compressor for use with the Iwata eclipse airbrush:
This tells me that I only need to find a filter regulator that goes from 0 to 120 psi and I should be set.

We cannot give you any advice on the compressor or fittings you have noted.
What you need to know generally is that airbrushes work in the ranges
of 5PSI to 45PSI.
The regulators we sell will only accommodate a tank with up to 60 PSI capability.
The regulator you need for the 120PSI tank you are looking at must be capable of
handling the PSI range for airbrushing all the way up to 120PSI - then whatever
range in between you need for other duties is your choice.

Don't sweat the regulator, they're dime-a-dozen.
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=hi&n=3753811
And even that's not really necessary, as these compressors ALL HAVE REGULATORS BUILT IN. They're not always the most precise, which is why I got the add-on, but all you really need is a filter & dryer. BTW, you do NOT want/need a 'lubricator' (often bundled w/regulators and/or filters). They add oil to the air for pneumatic tools, DEFINITELY a no-no for airbrushing!!
OOPS!! I just noticed that I only linked to ONE compressor at HF, not the twin-stack that I've been touting. Here it is, and though you can't really see them, there are two dials, one for the 'master' tank pressure and one for the output level you select w/the built in regulator : http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42321
BTW, I have had nothing but good experience w/Harbor Freight, but "high end" they surely aren't. If you see other uses for this compressor, or if you want to get a 'better' one, check out Amazon or your local Depot. And if you want something that has great specs and is VERY handy to tote around the house/drop in your trunk for other uses, this is my fave (though @ $329, its more than THREE TIMES more $$ than the HF!!):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...&s=hi&n=552674
IMHO, you want oil-lube, NOT oil-free, and other than that, well, ANY of these 'tool' compressors will last you forever for just airbrushing.

cool almost there, all the filter regulators in your list were lubricators too, but I did find this one:
will this work?

Ok I think I found the right regulator/air filter combo
http://www.mytoolstore.com/astro/astmat10.html
(has two option fittings I think upon order placement)
(1/4 NPT which is the connector size on the harborfreight compressor, and a 3/8 NPT connector)
its the 5th one down like 45.00 bucks not to bad considering the compressor is 109.00
and the brush is 120.00
and yes I'm only using this setup for my MT lids, and fiberglass lids for my helis'
Deandome, Let me know if you think this will work together.

You can do a lot better than $45!!! Well....maybe just a LITTLE better
You don't need a metal housing & stuff. This one sez it is a moisture trap, filter AND regulator: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=43242
Here's another:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=1118
Here's a moisture trap/filter for $13 (add the $5 regulator & you're set): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...s=hi&n=3753811
You'll see that these filters also say they remove moisture, that's why it's hard to find things that are called "moisture traps". I always use the filter, but as I didn't know they serve as moisture traps too, I added a $6 thingie I found @ HF (it's not online). It's just a 4" plastic cylinder with threads for fittings on each end. Inside it's stuffed with these little tiny balls that act like the silica packs you find in electronics packaging. It might not be necessary, but it sure doesn't hurt!!
