Mines does.. i walked in and found a mammoth!! but it was.. 460$ [X(] ... and i kinda noticed that everyhting in there is overpriced compared to everyother place... They sold tamiya TLO-1 kits for 120$! i saw them at hobbyshack and towerhobbies 2 years ago for 70$ [:-] ...

My lhs is pretty cool. They get what I need quick if they don't have it. The staff is reliable and knowledgeable and they're just plain cool to boot. I have a track pass which entitles me to 15% off my purchases.

I did vote for yeah they do but, That is only on one. I have 2 LHS one is pretty much worthless charged my buddy $250 for a sirio 18 and wouldnt give him his traxxas 2.5 back! the other shop is a stand up shop and has always treated us very fair. If we find a price online or in a magazine he will beat the price! So long as it isnt an auciton.

my is like twp's... they set the price when you ask... last i asked, they are carrying one savage 25 for $815... glow starters are about 40 dollars and fuel goes for about 30 bucks a gallon... not exactly the best fuel either...

It depends, what do you call overcharging? I mean a LHS would have to be huge to compete with anything online. Smaller shop that don't specialize in just RC but crafts/models too are usually ridiculous in their kit prices. I've seen a T-maxx priced at one place for $649.00 My track/hobbyshop has it for $356.00 right now which is an awesome price. Even beats online, but for parts and stuff under $20 they are ususally $2-$5 more than online. www.rcmadness.com

allen0622: I would have to disagree with your statement. My hobby store that I go to doesn't primarily specialize in R/C. But their prices are the best in my area. They even surpass Tower Hobbies' prices usually!! Can't beat that!!

I'm guessing that a place called "Hobby City" must be big and not a small shop. Or they have a thriving online business. Consider yourself fortunate your shop can compete with online prices. Mine can with maybe 10% of their stock.

my lhs was charging 850 canadain for a savage ss. The store that i go to sold me my savage 25 for 650 canadain and it came with one tune up free and they will even put one tank for feul through the engine for you an dshow how everthing works. The one thing that i do not like is that it is 30 min away ( i am 14 so i have to get a drive there) and one of the guys smokes (but not inside). But cause i got the savage i have nveerbroken anything

My LHS "undercharges." I can get the E-Maxx for $299, a T-Maxx for like $320-345, a Losi XXX-T Frances for like $170. Only parts/kits from Horizon Hobby are priced under the "street" price .. Everything else is street price or a little over. Gotta love it.

Mine is great. They're prices are about the same as stuff online. If I really search hard, I sometimes find stuff online that's a couple bucks cheaper, but then you have to pay S&H, which kills the deal. The guys at my LHS are really helpful, and I've gotten several small items for free because of the time and money I've spent there in the past. Many times they'll charge me cost, which means they don't even make any money on the item.

Hey, they have to pay to keep the lights on don't they? Most people think they are making a ton of money off you but, really there not! The cost to run a LHS is huge and the profit margin is tiny even if it seems like they are over charging. You can't compare a brick and mortar store to a on-line hobby shop. Also remember you are paying for conveyance to get the part you need today and not wait for a week and pay shipping charges.

allen0622: As a matter of fact, the store is no where near big! Heck, you can tell by their website and how outdated it is! I have been pushing the owner to setup an online store, but he is ready to retire at the end of this year. It is going to be such a pity if he leaves. Then there will be no good hobby store around my area that can provide the excellent service they are naturally good for.
Here is their website:
www.hobbycity.org
I don't know what they chose to be an organization, but you can see what the store is like and how small it is!

I have two hobbyshops that i buy things at.
The closest hobbyshop is good but there is only two guys that knows anything about RC and one of them is a pro.
The other hobbyshop is better they have great prices and they only sell RC´s

I just moved to West Texas and made my first trip to the hobby shop in Lubbock today. You could find good prices there like Blue Thunder 20% for $21.99 but they also had a T-Maxx for $457.99???!!!??!??!?!?
